Pros
1) Flexibility to take on new challenging assignments and freedom to self manage.
2) Fast growth both organically and through acquisitions which brings new and interesting work and projects.
3) Management seems to value employees and being transparent.
Cons
1) Pay and benefits seem not to align with goals. Often express that they want top talent, but when benefits cost went up HR claimed that it was market average, which doesn't make sense if you're trying to acquire top talent.
2) No real focus on career development
Advice to Senior Management
Put together programs to develop and retain top talent and communicate that to those individuals. They may be even identified and discussed as top talent, but they don't know.
Pros
Time off, time flexibly, good benefits, nice people.
Cons
Salaries are all over the place - mostly seems to be on the low side.
Pros
Great offerings
Big exciting huge promises.
Lot of rotating managers to learn from.
Cons
Dangerous for anyone currently employed
to risk an ever changing management landscape.
United Healthcare - could be the WORST in WA
Based on other HR dept, caregivers hospitals doctors
Advice to Senior Management
Confusing with so many groups that communicate
very little to each other. It's a small company
and needs to get honest about not being honest.
Nothing worse than using progress as an excuse for
For bad ownership behavior. It starts from the top.
Pros
Competitive Salary
Great Benefits package
Lots of PTO
Surrounded by talent
Extremely flexible schedule with remote work encouraged
Managers really listen to their subordinates.
Cons
Communication slow at times but this is only because Concur is always looking to make the next big move in the market.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing. Management is very transparent and you don't feel like they're sitting behind closed doors all day. Concur is regularly listed in the top 5 companies to work for each year for a reason. Keep it up!
Pros
good team of co-workers to work with
Cons
lack of advancement opportunities available
Pros
Decent benefits and paid time off.
Cons
HR is the worst I have ever seen. Only at work to promote themselves. I found it hard to find employees at Concur who felt differently.
Senior management prefers "yes" men/women. If you have an opinion that differs from top management you will have trouble moving up.
Most people at Concur below the Director level can't wait for the market to improve so they can leave.
Morale is very low within many of the departments.
People should stay away from this company at all costs.
Advice to Senior Management
Actually pay attention to internal surveys and make some of the changes that can help turn morale around.
Pros
Faste-paced environment with good oportunities to learn and advance.
Cons
Underqualified sr. management who are not interested in gorwing their employees.
Pros
Great leadership team.
Fast paced - good opportunity for growth.
Solid benefits with great vacation time.
Innovative people that are passionate about what they do.
Ability to engage people across multiple groups and a various levels.
Customer care a high priority.
Cons
Not the place for someone that wants to coast. The pace is very quick and employees are expected to deliver.
Pros
Its a pretty good work environment. The benefits are good, especially the vacation time. A lot of good people to work with.
Cons
HR dept is not very good. Not one person I have talked to within the company has had a positive experience with HR. They are very self serving and could care less about the employees.
A lot of people are promoted for who they know and not what they know and it shows.
Investment in employees is minimal.
Trying to find an employee (non-management) that is satisfied with their job is hard. Most co-workers cant wait for the market to get better so they can leave Concur.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit hiring your friends for jobs they cant do. Im sure most companies do this, but Concur has taken it to a new level.
Pros
They pay CIO's big money in the $250,00 range so its a gretat job if you can get it!
The ownership is Indian so they are likely to be moving a lot of work over seas so they can cut costs in the US. If your in India this is a great company to work.
High school education is an accepted qualification for high profile IT systems positions.
They have a great cafeteria with all the goodies!
Cons
The management changes about every 5 months sometimes quicker. They have very poor internal systems management due to a huge lack of "IT" education within management ranks.
They claim telecommuting is encouraged but internally they cut it our almost completely.
Employees complain a lot internally away from mangers so I don't think they really like their managers but fear saying so due to the very aristocratic management style.
The education acceptance level gives pretty much anyone a chance. This is obviously adds up to the blind leading the blind.
The low educational level and very poor training opportunities "NONE" are something that really stands out.
The average experience for most is 5 - 10 years including managers so they have no idea which direction to move but fear telling anyone that they are functional so the direction grows obscure and changes a lot.
Departments simply get re-orged so your position is not there for long because they do not retrain anyone they fire and hire.
Advice to Senior Management
The only advice I can give to management is to get honest with the owners who likely have no idea just how much back stabbing and ladder climbing is going on at the cost of millions over the years.
In reality they are not even close to what they claim at this point for employee /manager relations and there is no doubt most employees are not satisfied but live in fear of the next BIG lay off or change by management.
Put telecommuting back in for employees and get honest about it - represent yourselves better.
Stop lying to potential new hires about how long you need them.
Start retraining USA employees for new positions instead of firing them - give them a chance.
