Good company for learning stuff you are interested in

    Staff Design Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsEngineers are not micromanaged and are given opportunity to learn new stuff and implement new stuff. Extremely talented VLSI Engineering team and product applications team. You can do things you way while making sure that you can produce the product in right amount of time.

ConsThis is company slowly becoming top heavy with very less number of engineers. It is very easy to loose the talent but very difficult to hire the people back.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great people to work with and very flexible environment

Software Engineer (Current Employee) Newport Beach, CA

ProsConexant provides a very relaxed atmosphere for its employees and gives them flexibility to create their own schedule. People are very friendly and helpful. In my numerous years at Conexant, I've never experienced any tension between people, nor have I seen any mistreatment of employees.

ConsNot a lot of opportunities for advancement, or participation in seminars and training, or even trade shows.

Advice to Senior ManagementHold frequent meetings with lower level employees and keep them informed about future product plans, as well as the status of current products in the market. Make information about company's products available for every employee who is interested to know.

    Getting worse day by day

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat fax technology, no need to learn anything new, if you are a mediocre engineer you'll be a superstar at Conexant.

ConsEntire business is based on fax and other low-tech chips, no growth opportunities, gave up on reviews and raises years ago, they keep cutting benefits.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive up and put everyone out of their misery.

    Sinking ship

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsNo longer any pros. It will be luck to survive. Golden Gate will lose their shirts.

ConsThe CEO(s) and board are responsible for the company strategy that has sunk the company. It is headed for bankruptcy. i feel sorry for the rank and file that has stayed around and will now have to look for jobs in Orange County. Terrible CEOs, board and senior executives over the last 10-15 years were responsible for drving a good company down. Unfortunatefly a lot of them filled their coffers. I wont be surprised if the current CEO tries to blame the former management for the state of the company. Not entirely true he had a hand in the current and former management.

    Caveat Emptor

Senior Software Developer (Current Employee) Boston, MA

ProsThere are some nice people working there. The successful ones tend to "keep their head down".

ConsWay too political - who you know is much more impotant that what you know
Time-to-market also much more important that quality
Employees are always in constant fear of losing their jobs.
Frequent company reorginizations - lack of clear vision at the top.

Advice to Senior ManagementWorry less about profit and more about quality of life - business success will follow.
Get lower level employees (the ones who actually do the work) involved in the planning process.
