I have been working at Connecture

    Pros

    Laid back environment
Result based company so you can usually work from where ever you want.
The management are nice unlike in some other companies
    Salaries are competitive

    Cons

The work is a lot so work life balance is not so good
Some of the projects can be a little boring
    Conference calls at odd times
Developers are clearly the lowest ranked in this company

I have been working at Connecture full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Casual Workplace, flexible hours, working remote opportunities and great employees. Pay is good and competitive. Location in Brookfield is good, no parking fees.

    Cons

    The company is management heavy.
Offshore will replace you. Governor Scott Walker gave the company millions of dollars to "create jobs" in Wisconsin only to create jobs in the Ukraine, India and Costa Rica and terminating long term employees in Wisconsin that helped build the company.
Be prepared to work early mornings, weekends and whenever you can log on to work and be available for offshore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the employees that were part of making the company what it is (the few that are left). BA's are your most valuable resource!! They work harder than any manager I ever worked with!!

I have been working at Connecture full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Compensation. Recently updated their Compensation Structure, that is very competitive in the marketplace.

For the recent growth of the organization, it has remained relatively innovative, nimble, and fast-paced and open with communication.

    Cons

It is becoming a larger organization, and with it comes growing pains: bureaucracy, slow to respond to market threats, bloated teams, cross-divisional tension.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't dismiss emotional intelligence and adaptive leadership. You need great managers and leaders in order to build great companies and develop great employees. The people who may be brilliant at solving technical issues may not be (and are most often, not) the best candidates for management

    Pros

Culture promotes hard work but also values work-life balance

There are many smart people in the organization, especially in the engineering department due to stringent hiring standards

    Cons

Can be a fast paced environment which isn't a fit for everyone

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Connecture full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very generous PTO policy and flexible work schedule - great for balancing work/family life; great leadership - senior management is very approachable; opportunities for growth exist and are encouraged; location of company is great - close to everything; and pay is good.

    Cons

Very fast paced environment - which is expected with any rapidly growing company. I don't mind, as they are flexible as far as working hours, working from home, etc.

I worked at Connecture full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

flexible schedule, ability to work from home, many intelligent and hardworking co-workers

    Cons

Connecture has become very management-heavy, and that management sets unrealistic expectations. The company demands too much of its employees - expecting evening and weekend work to meet unrealistic deadlines with a very buggy product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more business analysts and onshore technical resources - people who face the client and do the work. Establish consistency in your implementation practices and management approaches. Pay attention to the morale decline at your company,

I have been working at Connecture full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the variety and pace of change. I LOVE casual dress and work life flexibility that is REAL and not just a few words in a handbook that managers are too scared to really implement. I love the ability to talk to anyone from the CEO to an intern, share ideas, and feel like my thoughts were heard. Finally, healthcare IT is the space to be in and this company is growing and thriving - sure people come and go - but that's no different than any other organization.

    Cons

The pace is very fast and change is a constant - but for me this is not a "con". I've worked in very well established environments with policies, procedures, and years of standard practices and it sucked the life out of me. If you are comfortable with a little chaos and enjoy working with "just the right" amount of structure - you will be just fine!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the communication coming - more of it, in more outlets, from more of you to more of us.

I have been working at Connecture

    Pros

    Base pay is all right
    Perfect location, close to everything
    Friendly coworkers, flexible working hours.

    Cons

    Not much room for growth
the technology comparing to other health site outdated.
the more important thing is new business idea never really took off, very limited ways to make money.
Use too much offshore cheap labor, code quality really is an issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many non technical directors, managers. There seems too many people their day to day job just passing message around. Be honest to your employees about what's going on within the company.

I worked at Connecture full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible work environment - you can work from anywhere as long as you work from everywhere. Salary was pretty good.

    Cons

Out of touch management, poor quality product, no vision or direction. Don't let them give you a song and dance about working at a software company, it's just a nice way of saying you'll be overworked and disrespected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't fix your problems with management. There are serious problems with Connecture and the management thinks they can fix it by shuffling around VPs and Directors and hiring more management. Connecture has no place pretending to be a hosting organization.

Find real, technical leaders, not email forwarders and escalators.
