Current Employee – been working at Constellation Energy Group as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Constellation has an amazing work environment in the heart of downtown Chicago. The people are incredibly friendly and hardworking. I learned a lot from my internship there.
Cons – Constellation got taken over by Exxelon and they went from constantly looking for employees to having no open marketing positions very quickly.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Constellation Energy Group full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – -Excellent yearly bonus package.
-Flexibility to work off-site (which is also a con, see below).
-Nice people to work with for the most part.
-If you like to travel both with a lot of notice or little notice, then this is definitely the right company to work for.
Cons – -Very high turnover due to low morale, burnout, bad management, and a variety of other reasons.
-You have to constantly battle and fight for a reasonable budget to complete or maintain projects delegated by senior leadership. Yet the travel budget is astronomical - most (but of course not all) business trips that are assigned could be done over the phone or on Skype or a product like it, if the company reevaluated the cost of implementing a video conferencing tool versus how many thousands of dollars they are wasting on air fare, bar binging, hotels, etc.
-Culture is stiff, impersonal, unhealthy and does not promote employee wellness or personal health at all. There is no on-boarding for new employees or even any type of HR presence at all. You're expected to be on-call around the clock and when groups get together through travel there is extreme binge drinking (many times on the company dime), from employees of all ages not just the 20-somethings.
-Management expectations are completely unrealistic, which drives people to work way beyond their capacity (and many times burn out) or to never feel a sense of completion or satisfaction.
-Very frequent movement of teams and changes in reporting structure, which is often interpreted by employees that management doesn't know what they are doing.
-Absolutely no work-life balance for people who are truly working hard (some people actually aren't and try hard to fake the fact that they are not hard-working). Everyone is granted with off-site access so even during extreme and stressful situations such as hurricanes and states of emergency, employees are expected to be working.
-Since right before Exelon bought the company, there has been very little room to move or grow into a new position, there are very few promotional opportunities, and many people feel "stuck" or even worse, worried about whether they will even have a job. Many times when people leave, their job is not back-filled and the work gets pushed out to the remaining team members who are already overworked.
-During occasional road closing/horrendous traffic events because of national or large-scale events in Baltimore, Maryland employees are never advised to work off-site (even though it would make for a more productive work day), but when similar events take place in regional offices, there is more sensitivity.
Advice to Senior Management – Covered in the cons section above, the main point is that there is a lack of work-life balance, which results with low morale, burnout, resentment, and a high turnover rate -- in turn, you are wasting money by not treating your employees like people.

Current Employee – been working at Constellation Energy Group full-time
Pros – Team members are great, for the most part. Working at a Nuclear Power Plant provides interesting work. Job stability. Decent benefits. Free safety shoes!
Cons – Weird promotion rules. People who obviously have more talent, skills and responsibilities are often passed over for promotions in favor of old-timers who've been around longer. Merit pay increases are a joke (1% raise doesn't even cover cost of living). Although there is an emphasis on safety, schedule pressures can force people's hands. Work Life balance is a joke: 40 hours a week job really means 50-60 with no extra pay.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop squeezing every inch of work from your people without duly compensating them. Pay people extra when they are in ERO duty.

Former Employee – worked at Constellation Energy Group as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Great work environment and training. Many perks offers during outages.
Cons – Not for people who don't enjoy a good walk from parking to the job site. For me the long walk was a nice start and end to the day.

Current Employee – been working at Constellation Energy Group full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Fortune 500, brand recognition, decent salary once you move up the ranks, nice downtown location, management is personable, tuition reimbursement (now it takes three years to forgive(1/3 a year), generous sick leave, average 401k match
Cons – Difficult to move up the ranks (when the company was smaller it was a lot easier), feel like a number, not a person, work environment is like a factory floor or sardine can, have to pay for parking, bureaucracy, no recognition for advanced degrees, organization is so large you never know who to go to, office gets so loud you can't hear yourself think.
Advice to Senior Management – Provide a more comfortable work environment (ex. cubicles, white noise). Currently the offices are set up in rows like a factory floor, no privacy, and extremely loud at times (disruptive). Provide more cross-training opportunities so people have more exposure to different areas and have back up for when they are out of the office.

Cons – Healthcare Benefits took a turn for the worse 2 years ago.
