Some rocky times, but the company was fair

    Compliance Analyst (Former Employee)
    Baltimore, MD

ProsVery high profile company in Baltimore with some of the best employees around.

ConsIndustry was rocky and the stock was perilous at times. As there was some reduction in force, the morale was low when I left. However, I understand it's better now.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter communication across the enterprise.

    Good place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe company has some great benefits. They recently went through a restructuring and improved the benefit package. The company also tries to hold company wide meetings on a regular basis to keep you informed of the company's progress.

ConsThere is no team work. Everyone seems to be trying to get recognition for themselves and not working together as they should.

Constellation - home of the stars

ProsThe company is flexible and offers several development and growth opportunities.

ConsRecent merger with Exelon has reduced efficiencies as everything is system driven.

Large corporation with quality employees, but find your own way

    Risk Analyst (Current Employee)
    Baltimore, MD

Pros1. If you like big companies with free perks like soda, coffee, snacks in the lunch room then you'll like CEG. There's also the occasional free lunch.

    2. Social environment for the most part. You're free to chitchat with your neighbors and socialize.

    3. No micro-management. Take breaks as you need them, and just get your work done. Results are everything here.

    4. Training is offered as they see fit.

    5. One of the top Energy companies on the east coast, and a great learning experience in general. People are nice and friendly.

Cons1. Meetings are plentiful, and rather dull. Follow up meetings are commonplace.

    2. Difficult to differentiate yourself. You're left to find your own path in the company with little guidance.

    3. Meet your own people, and build up your own network to survive. Employees have been w/ the company for a long time, but most won't reach out initially.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow that you value your contractors. They are part of the team as well.

Typical compensation and work environment for a large utility ... changes coming

    Director (Former Employee)

ProsBenefits are solid and depending on the individual assignment, people seem very loyal and willing to work together.

ConsA significant number of new employees from other segments of the industry is causing a shift in the culture away from the employee. As the company gets larger, the feeling of being treated as an individual is going away slowly.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more careful regarding advancement. It is not a good idea to hire a group of like minded individuals to the point of group think. Debate and discussion should be encouraged as a means to improve in each area. There is a significant pool of very strong people working there ... give them a voice.

Excellent company with lots of opportunities

    Sourcing Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsLeadership team is great and very visionary. There are job opportunities across the company and in the utility in Baltimore.

ConsCurrent merger with Exelon provides opportunities as well as challenges. Some people will truly benefit from the opportunities, others will be placed in temporary positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementDrive the synergies and efficiencies that come with the merger. Make the new company the best out of the two legacy companies.
