    Fortune 500 company- overall decent

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsFortune 500, brand recognition, decent salary once you move up the ranks, nice downtown location, management is personable, tuition reimbursement (now it takes three years to forgive(1/3 a year), generous sick leave, average 401k match

ConsDifficult to move up the ranks (when the company was smaller it was a lot easier), feel like a number, not a person, work environment is like a factory floor or sardine can, have to pay for parking, bureaucracy, no recognition for advanced degrees, organization is so large you never know who to go to, office gets so loud you can't hear yourself think.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide a more comfortable work environment (ex. cubicles, white noise). Currently the offices are set up in rows like a factory floor, no privacy, and extremely loud at times (disruptive). Provide more cross-training opportunities so people have more exposure to different areas and have back up for when they are out of the office.

    Disappointed

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsDecent compensation and competitive benefits package. Constellation is a large company with good geographic diversity. It has many excellent people to learn from and the company encourages information sharing.

ConsThe geographic diversity can be a problem in that it makes it difficult to develop the relationships necessary to be effective in your role.

Advice to Senior ManagementConstellation's management suffers from the same problem that many management groups have: they think that their leadership is the answer to the company's problems.

Overall good place to start a career, but may change depending on merger

Senior Analyst (Current Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsGood coworkers, great salary level for the greater DC area. Depending on which department you work for, your contributions may be recognized. Generally good level of vacation days. So far, unlimited sick days (but can he checked upon if requested by management).

ConsDepending on who you have as a manager, you may not get necessary guidance. This is changing though. As the company undergoes a merger, there will be plenty of ambiguity. In some departments, contribution by the non-management level may go unnoticed. Performance evaluation from the direct report (i.e. one level above) can be trumphed by senior management to match the department objectives.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to be fair to all in promotions and performance evaluations.

    Good pay, bad culture

Analyst II (Former Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsGot promotted quickly, made more money than I thought at my age. Average bonus was 15% even when year was bad. Had to fight for the promotion, but they were fair and gave it to me.

ConsPoor communication from management. Constantly try to outsource. Restructure company every few months. No clear direction and you never know if you will have a job.

Advice to Senior ManagementPick a strategy and make it clear and stick with it.

    OK

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsConstellation Energy had competitvie salaries and benefits. There was a good worklife balance and workload very reasonable. Overall, OK company to work for.

ConsEmployees not always treated with respect they deserve. There is a large focus on networking and politics rather than job performance.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore communication with employees would be beneficial. Leadership should be held accountable to the core values of the business.
