    Pros

The company actually cares that you have a great work/life balance. The company follows a very strict ethical way of conducting business and it instills this in their employees. It is a very safety conscious company and the staff is a great group of people to work with.

    Cons

I believe the company is sometimes stuck in neutral due to the leadership of IMI.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing on the local level as you are a great leadership team!

I worked at Control Components full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are like family and will work hard to assist anyone who requires help.

    Cons

Management changed in 2011 and the changes were made without seeking experienced long term employees suggestions of what worked and what didn't work in our business. The new management team came from GE who were not familiar with our industry. Their changes disrupted the business and their new policies didn't work. Had they listened to past experiences they could have saved a lot of trial & error and heart ache.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really listen to suggestions and evaluate pros/cons of possible outcome before making permanent SOPs.

I worked at Control Components full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Charismatic leadership and hardworking teams in engineering, production, sales, and management.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunities to move up due to a low turn over at management levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and actually talk to them before decisions are made whether it be leadership or where their career is going. There is a perception that the management team globally does not always take into account the long term impact of decisions.

    Pros

Everyone here WANTS to do a god job, contribute and make the company be the best in the industry. Very team oriented people from the mid-level management on down only.

Good for new college grad to start work and gain experience.... but don't stay.

    Cons

Upper level managment within CCI and up to the IMI Directors are not in tune with what really needs to be done to make CCI profitable again. Too many changes within a short time frame. Expansion to Europe and India hurt the company and the moral of US employees, where CCI started.. in the US.

Layoffs are normal solution to meet the dollars over improving processes and tools being used.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Repleace the xGE Healthcare upper managment people with those who know the industry, such as those whom have worked here at CCI many years.

    Pros

Excellent inter-department support, family atmosphere in mid-sized company, executives are all approachable and receptive, competitive benefits and pay, opportunities to gain training in field, well-respected in industry as benchmark brand. There is a large population of professional staff with time at the company 40+ years. There are also many new employees so it makes for a great balance.

    Cons

Some challenges associated with dealing with company's past and growing pains with fast growth of company. People stay a long time so sometimes you have to wait for retirement to get into a position that is highly sought after.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The supply chain ERP system and Salesforce will take some time to integrate with the aging workforce. Support from global subsidiaries needs to be increased as we are not taking advantage of the cross-sales opportunities.

    Pros

Great Benefits, Comparable pay, good work/personal life balance, good learning opportunities, good camaraderie, fantastic products, very well respected in the industry, stand behind product, amazing research department

    Cons

poor infrastructure, dysfunctional supply chain, long lead times, poor communication between factories, non-existant project management team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp project management department allowing for telecommuting and offer promotion opportunities within so not all jobs at CCI seem like dead-end jobs.

A nice place to start with your Mechanical Engineering profession and to gain knowledge about technologies.

    Pros

A good place to get your career started with zero experience in Mechanical Engineering profession. You will learn more and be better understanding what really applies toward your real world in design engineering. It's really true!

    Cons

Lacking of training for new employee due to budget spent for hiring new level management without any experience in control valve industry. There were many changes in management level who have no clue about the industry and where the company will be going to. The change was made without having discussed through experienced management team or employees who have been long enough with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to have more focus on engineering team who produce a well-known product in the market with great engineering knowledge. Need to promote and recognize their work as they are the main driving force contributing more than 85% to the company's reputation and revenue anually.

Not a good place to work

    Pros

CCI pays very well compaired to their competitors. CCI does offer a resonable amount of training. CCI provides a significant amount of computerized systems sales tracking.

    Cons

CCI has rediculous expectations of their employees. CCI does offer a resonable amount of training but really not enough. Too much information is hidden from employees making it difficult to complete their respective jobs. Too much emphasis is placed on tracking opportunities instead of closing them. Product lead-times are outrageous. Getting quotations is extremely difficult often taking weeks to months. The company has been downsizing for a long time though they will not inform new hires of this. I have been informed that their new hires are receiving considerably less money than the old hats (old hat = anyone who has been there more than 4 years). Turnover is well over 20% so the company is constantly training 1 out of every 5 people. The upper level managers have no experience in the valve industry or power industry which clearly explains why the company is in so much trouble. The company supposedly had 2100 people when I came on board and in two years is now at 900. Expect to have three - four hours per day of paperwork in the Sales Engineer position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the business to someone who knows how to run a business.

I have been working at Control Components

    Pros

CCI has a community of intelligent hard working employees who manage to get the job done. There is a feeling of community and mutual support between the various departments in operations (engineering, QA, project management, procurement, manufacturing, etc).

    Cons

CCI experienced years of profits and growth as a result of strong energy demand. Because success was so easy, little time, money, and effort was put into improving systems and processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share your vision with your subordinates and give us concrete goals to support your larger plan for the company. Asking people to simply do better is not leadership.

    Ex-GE managers ruining the company

    Pros

Some of the industry's best are still left. Name recognition and customer loyalty keeps the orders coming.

    Cons

IMI/CCI have recently hired many ex-GE executives who do not know the industry, but think they have the right medicine for CCI. Overblown egos and short-term thinking prevent them from questioning themselves or asking others who know the business for input before they make decisions that significantly impact the company, employees and customers. The result is increased bureaucracy, no daily management support, poor treatment of employees, ongoing degradation of employee benefits, loss of teamwork and family culture, layoffs to offset the increased spending on executive salaries and fringes and slowing of business due to lack of focus on the right opportunities.

Nearly all employees in the business fear losing their jobs to offshoring as CCI continues to make large investments in personnel and infrastructure in Bangalore and implement poorly thought-out closures of US offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

IMI, don't believe what you are hearing from CCI Senior Management. You are losing valuable, experienced employees and customers to competitors due to the work environment and closure rumors. Ask others at CCI for a sanity check.

If you value your employees, seek out those in the ELT who are abusing valuable contributors and correct their behavior before more talent moves on. Scrutinize time-consuming and wasteful processes to find value added for the customer.
