Pros
Seems a little corporate, but yet misleading.
Cons
Work weekends and Holidays
Horrible elevated crew
They hire anyone from young immature non HS graduates to felon's
Advice to Senior Management
Recruit from a mature level and don't discriminate by elevating friends within the company.
Pros
Easy to get job
Decent training
Good Location
Benefits OK
Good job for people that dont go to college
People were nice
Cons
Always on your back
numbers numbers numbers
micromanagement about everything
managers think they are great, but arent
crappy shifts and no flexibility
Pros
It has a very Friendly work environment
It always recognizes talent and helps you to grow
A place to be in for a long time
Cons
Sometimes people are let to leave the company. However, they are always given an option to return if they want.
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that the best performers are not allowed to go easily. They can be called back whenever there is an opportunity for them.
Pros
Anyone can get a job here, if willing to give open availability. Sometimes I really like my coworkers, and if you get a good team lead, it's bearable.
Cons
Training makes you think it would be so much better than it is, and it could be. But it is mismanaged. It doesn't mater how well you perform, management doesn't care and will arbitrarily cut your hours. It is grueling repetitive work.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward top talent, monitor employees who are not performing, cut hours according to performance rather than arbitrarily. Open more management positions when lower management is proving to be imcompetent.
Pros
A lot of young people to work. fun environment
Cons
Convergys has a lot of clients and can easily be transferred to different department without your knowledge. Management is like a dictatorship
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the workers
Pros
There vision and dental are awesome! Medical is ok. Depending on what you do there you can make good money in commisions.
Cons
Very clickish, Upper management has no clue how to run a center without turning over the building twice every year. They do not value their good employees. Everytime you advance with the company somehow your paycheck becomes smaller. The pay is not very competitive unless you are on a commissioned based program.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees when they tell you what you can do to help with attrition. They were in the same spot as a new hire at some point and know what they would have wanted to see coming into a new company. Also stop being so hypocritical, it makes the people who work for you hate you!
Pros
Easy to get hired
Decent benefits
Cons
Horrible management
Bad work environment
Higher stress than it needs to be
The higher ups care about their sales than they do about their employees being happy
Horrible policy regarding saved Paid Time Off. It's no longer guaranteed once it's earned.
Focus no longer customer service oriented where it needs to be.
Advice to Senior Management
To keep it simple, this call center needs to remember who keeps them running and in business in the first place: their customers and their agents. Stop threatening jobs over sales, start actually caring about employees, and definitely start caring about customers. With such a bad reputation and high turnover rate due to the unnecessary stress placed upon employees, this call center won't be in business much longer.
Pros
It seems that everyone in tech in central Florida worked there at some point. It's a starting point to get some good foundational knowledge of workstation support and some professional experience in tech.
Cons
The turnover rate is unreal which is not a good indicator of a solid company. The hours were unreasonable at times. Work till 2 am then come in the next morning for a 6 or 7 am start.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay better and do what it takes to keep the best employees.
Pros
REGARDING THE POSITION:
- Pays 11.50 hourly, you're not on the phone constantly, you don't desk share or work weekends
- The enviable agent position in the center because of the above
REGARDING THE COMPANY:
Easy-access location, well-equipped main break room
Cons
REGARDING THE POSITION:
- Lots of issues that need to be worked out on the Client end, issues that effect our ability to do the job to required standards
- Training did not flow well, and did not prepare us well for what we encountered on the floor
- It may be a good paying position when compared to other agent positions in Convergys, but when compared to Project Managers as a whole and considering the scope of our responsibilities, the pay is well below average
REGARDING THE COMPANY:
- As others have stated, it's a job rather than a career and, much to my dismay, I can't see myself here in two years much less five
- No work-life balance. No consideration is given for outside obligations in shift scheduling or time off requests
- Poor benefits: Dental and Vision benefits are average. Comprehensive health coverage is only offered after 60 days of employment; They offer one major health carrier with 3 plans (no HMOs), all with annual deductibles ranging from $1000 to $3000, and with high co-pays and limited coverage amounts (this is true for Florida; offering varies by state). Details of these health care plans were NOT available for review until after our first 32 days of employment, which I decided was deliberate. Had I known how poor the coverage was when I was offered the job, I would have continued my job search.
- Tuition reimbursement (something they seem very proud of) reimburses you a percentage, only for As and Bs, only after waiting SIX MONTHS from the time you submitted your final grades, and you must continue to be employed by the Company for a specified period of time AFTER you receive reimbursement or you will have to repay that reimbursement.
- Odd time off plans; there is no sick time, personal days are accrued per hour you work, you can not use what you haven't earned (and since accrual starts anew at the beginning of the year, forget about that spring vacation). Also, time off must be scheduled in advance but getting time off approved is difficult because of the very subjective decisions of your individual leader.
- Team Leads and Trainers may know the product and the processes, but most seem to have little knowledge of effective positive leadership. It seems as if they have been trained to focus on opportunities for discipline rather than on positively motivating and supporting the team toward improved results.
- Much of the lower-level leadership team at this branch of Convergys consists of people with esteem problems who resort to using demoralization as a management tool. Leadership seems threatened by those with the intelligence and drive to very well; rather than recognize, reward, and promote those individuals, managers exert more control over those superior employees in order to "put them in their place."
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership training requires more than just teaching people how to enforce the rules, monitor adherance, and comply with employment laws. Leadership candidates should posses qualities that include more than just a "pro-Convergys" attitude, an open scheduling availability, a familiarity with the product, and a willingness to do it all for not much more than the agents they manage.
Effective leadership training should include topics such as ethics, respect, confidentiality, fairness, team dynamics, and positive strategies for motivation, all things that are sorely lacking here. Turnover would diminish significantly and loyalty would improve dramatically if only Convergys, and leadership by-proxy, put their full support behind employees. I'd work for pennies if I knew the company I worked for would stand behind me. I see no hope for Convergys; it seems to have accepted and embraced their reputation as an employee churn factory.
Pros
Being able to leave early on slow days. Overtime for those that wanted to make some extra money.
Cons
The atmosphere is exhausting. Almost everyone hated their jobs and constantly complained, including myself.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase pay, that may raise employee morale and dedication.
