    Pros

Industry experience that allows you to work in numerous fields. If you can handle the pace the career path from Agent to Management is clear and can move quite quickly.

    Cons

Compensation is below industry and in most cases below regional averages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Normalize salary compensations.

I worked at Convergys full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

New-hires are given extensive training and lots of support. If you are proactive you can move to management pretty quickly. Most managers are supportive and will help you grow into higher positions if they can.

    Cons

Getting beyond first-level management takes quite some time. The BPO business is entirely about satisfying the client companies and the external customer always takes precedence over the internal customer (employees). This also drags down the pay-scale. Very little formal training for managers. The company looses good people due to the lack of training available to managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop the whole of your workforce. B level managers need more and better training! Promoting people to the next level without adequate training causes them fail and loose faith in their abilities. A formal training program for B and C level positions would result in higher performance and less turnover.

I have been working at Convergys full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

This is a fun place to work! Your able to make a lot of friends. Monthly incentive bonus if you can manage to hit your Average Handle Time, and conversion rate metrics. They have a Stat based Shift bid like every 6 months. So if you get stuck with a bad shift like I night shift till 11pm, if you work hard and raise your stats you can earn a better shift.

    Cons

Unorganized management structure. the Team Managers each have their own management style, some by the book on rules and some will let you get away with alot. It's like there is no "official management method" imposed by the Director. There is no room for advancement! they talk and talk about promoting from within, but the only way to get promoted is "if" they hire a new training class you and 15-20 other people get to apply for that ONE TM spot. I was passed over 4 times because I wasn't "buddy buddy" with enough of the current TM's to be considered. Pay starts at $9.50 we were told it would just up to $10 after training. when that time came it turns out...you can get a raise "up to $10.00" based on your stats. I got a raise to $10.05 and there are no yearly raises offered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

there is a "rule book" or "company policy guide" for a reason. have your managers follow policy instead of governing the floor on the fly off the top of their head.

I worked at Convergys full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This company has fantastic benefits available immediately upon hire. 17+ paid vacation days, every type of insurance, retirement and investment opportunities...you name it. Nice clean working environment. Co-workers have always been great.

    Cons

The absolute face of outsourcing with MANY overseas call centers. Management not very concerned about employees. Bottom line reigns supreme. Lots of bureaucracy and red tape. Very regimented.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think of your employees as more than just disposable numbers.

I worked at Convergys full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are good, some of the supervisors are good.
It's better than living on the streets. Slightly.

    Cons

    Low pay.
Normal companies let you schedule vacation time as much as 6 months out. Convergys isn't normal. As an agent, you might manage to plan vacation time 3 weeks out.
No sick time. If you're sick, you'll probably take points for it, since the number of agents who can take PTO off on a given day is VERY limited. Hope your kids don't get sick!
I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start over.
    Give us sick days.
Give us an across the board raise of about 30%.
Take a look at your turnover rate & think about how much money gets eaten up by having to have a constant set of training classes where you're paying people to not be productive.
