I worked at Coop Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There are really not many good things to say about the company, it was the worst job of my life

    Cons

The company is run by a husband/wife pair with the wife/CFO being the worst boss you could possibly ask for, to say that she is unreasonable is putting it very very lightly. The husband/CEO is actually pretty reasonable most times, but that is all overshadowed by how the wife treats other people. She yells and screams at the smallest of things even when she is totally in the wrong.

I dont even need to get into the horrible mess that their software is, but there are far better/cheaper options out there for enterprise.

RUN, dont walk, away from a job here, there is no amount of money that you can be paid to deal with people like their CFO (to be clear, its not like they pay you a lot anyway)

I dont know where all these new positive reviews of the company came from on glassdoor, but i can only guess its the owners writing it themselves as there is not a soul on earth that I know that has left that company saying "that was a great place to work at"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

improve CFO interpersonal skills, invest in better technology

    Pros

Very little traffic on the way in.
Cafeteria in the same building (not associated with this business)

    Cons

Company shifts leadership too often. No development team (only one developer)
    No career advancement.
Management does not listen to employees about customers needs.
Company is going through financial issues, and can't determine a factor.
Management does not handle personal feelings well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your own development team. Listen to employees, they talk to your clients every day. Give yearly reviews to your employees. And invest in your own company with up to date software.

I worked at Coop Systems full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The staff at Coop Systems is relatively friendly. Management occasionally stocked the kitchen with junk food and soda.

    Cons

The fundamental problem with the product the company is selling itself is that it is based on a free version of Microsoft SharePoint, no longer supported by Microsoft and no where near as useful as more recent versions of SharePoint have proven in the development of business continuity management (BCM) solutions

There is no transparency in accounting coupled with non-standard billing practices. Company income currently dependent on projects that are stalled, forcing staff layoffs. No standard BCM Product, leading to frequent undocumented custom work. No good future long term sales prospects. No development staff, only one lead developer. No road map for implementing features promised to clients in the previous year. Bugs in software leading to issues with existing clients implementations. Clients engaging in legal action against the company for unfinished or poorly implemented work. There is a customer support staff of only two individuals. Two overworked project leads focusing primarily on one major project as other are given little to no attention. All this as animosity towards the company builds and awareness of its incompetence in developing BCM solutions becomes clearer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise on building out a development team quickly, in the interest of developing a standard product.

I have been working at Coop Systems

    Pros

Somewhat interesting technology to work on. Opportunities for travel, if desired. Ability to work with diverse client base and employees.

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement at times seem slow. Management staff changes often, which changes direction of company frequently, in contradictory directions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dedicate more time to listening to the employees who know what the customers needs are. Never give more weight to your experience than the customer needs and desires.
