Pros
-Compensation is among the highest for interns and new grads
-Relocation compensation very generous
-Projects are very hands on
-Some of your co-workers are extremely smart and can help you a lot with your projects and offer you a lot of advice
-Both management and basic laborers are very open minded and are open to change and helping.
Cons
-Not great at giving feedback
-Most locations are in the middle of nowhere
-HR somewhat slow on small issues that at times become very annoying
-Relocation help almost nonexistent.
-Too many meetings that take up so much time that could better be spent on more important issues
Advice to Senior Management
-Offer better feedback on intern performance to see what they are doing right and what they need to work on
-More team based projects
-More communication before the internship starts
Pros
Health insurance, 401K, Company contributes to retirement and matches 401K.
Plant lunches and perks,(jackets, t-shirts, etc.) are fairly regular.
Cons
Have some very incompetent and uncaring management.(salaried)
Control oriented management. (Zero leadership)
Out dated and obsolete equipment.
No cost of living pay increases.
Pay raises are across the board and very slow in coming.
Advice to Senior Management
There is no leadership at our plant. Only dysfunctional, controlling "managers"
Smiles on faces improve morale.
Treat the employees like you would want to be treated.
Use a little wisdom in your operational policies.
Pros
High learning Curve, nice office location and decent pay.
Cons
Pathetic senior management, no technical knowledge/insights from management, you are expected to know more within first few days of joining , compared to everyone who has been in the company for 10 yrs!
They hire people and fire whole teams after 3 months, saying that leadership has decided to move the entire team away from this location...is that a sick joke or HR has too much free time in conducting interviews for candidates, as they know that everyone just wants to leave the company soon?
In one word, run away, and join if you have no other option, as they will make you work like machines, pay like clerks and managers don't care about you, your life or shows any kind of respect.
Pros
Great learning experience for new college gratuate.
Cons
Management lacks consideration for employees and their families.
Advice to Senior Management
To be more considerate and sensitive to employee time.
Pros
Local to Home / Attained a qualified apprenticeship
Cons
Organisation / Culture / Low Communication
Pros
Learn how to grind a business and people for the highest profits.
Cons
No acknowledgement for a job well done. Nothing is ever good enough. Morale is as low as I have ever seen a company be. Everything is falling apart. Every nickle spent has to be justified for immediate payback or it is no.
Advice to Senior Management
Think beyond the quarter. Invest in the business and in the people. Try to build a team.
Pros
Great exposure, big projects and ability to impact the bottom line. Opportunity to grow your career in various roles. You will be challenged.
Cons
Highly aggressive culture - no work/life balance. Sr Leadership drives very hard and people are not important only results.
Advice to Senior Management
Take care of your employees. Build a culture where people are valued and appreciated. Take the time to communicate the why behind decisions.
Pros
It’s a strong and growing global company that is safety and environmentally oriented.
Cons
Shameful treatment of employees. All level of management has a tendency to cuss, scream, and yell creating an atmosphere of intimidation. Too many F bombs.
Advice to Senior Management
This goes for all tiers of management and senior management. “You don't show admiration to your employees when you curse, scream and rant, even if its’ not directed at them. Calm down and communicate with respect and stop cussing like sailors. Declaring that it a just a New York way of communicating is not excuse, it poor professional behavior.
Pros
Stable company with multi-facetted business approach.
Cons
Shameful treatment of employees. Management has a tendency to shout, scream, and yell creating an atmosphere of intimidation.
Advice to Senior Management
You don't show respect to your employees when you cuss and scream, even if your not directing your comments to them. Calm down and communicate with respect.
Pros
Stability and long history would be the best reasons to work at Cooper
Cons
Non supportive and non encouraging managing style a downer for new entrants
Advice to Senior Management
Mgmt could be more supportive to new hires so that they get full chance to show their potential
