I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The environment is fast paced and very interesting given that copyright is a hot topic now. If you are interested in learning and working with wonderful people, this is a good workplace.

    Cons

There is a lot going on so if multitasking or learning new things, keeping up with what the market wants etc is not your thing, you may find it too intense here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lots of stuff happening. We could use some additional internal resources on some projects. Keep the transparent communications coming.

The CEO is smart, hard-working but temperamental, and fosters a culture that chases new clients, not client satisfaction

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, good HR department, work-life balance is recognized. Collaboration is encouraged. Pleasant colleagues, decent middle-management.

    Cons

Lack of focus -- people pulled in multiple directions. People often want to check with the CEO first, fearful of making her mad. $100K sales are celebrated even if they cost $1M. Lots of work being done with no obvious benefit to customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to your customers -- not just your publishers but also the licensees you already have.

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center

    Pros

    Thoughtful, colloborative, nice employees
    Dynamic, hardworking, brilliant CEO
Big enough to offer opportunity; small enough as an individual to make a difference
    Great benefits, space and salary
    Transparent communication

    Cons

Trying to do too many things, some long-term staff resistant to change, location not accessible by public transportation, colloborative enviroment but meeting heavy.

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice facility in a dynamic industry with many talented and dedicated employees

    Cons

Senior Execs lack proper experience, leadership and strategic skills to move the company beyond its singular competency. "CEO" is a former administrative assistant that has not developed the requisite skills to operate or lead a company. Furthermore, her current skillset does not appear to be prepared for future development,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Executive Team needs to be completely re engineered... thus my message would be directed to the Board of Directors : Begin Again.

    Pros

The work is interesting, the people are great to work with, the commute is the easiest I've ever had, and the pay is very good.

    Cons

The outsourcing of jobs has ramped up significantly in the last few years. There are now twice as many engineers working in countries such as Belarus and India as there are in the U.S.

I worked at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

CCC has great benefits, the people are nice and the office is nice.

    Cons

The company is run mostly by people who have spent their entire careers at the company and have grown from the bottom. Many times that is great but leadership is not strong and at most times, uninformed and unproductive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a new President. Get new blood at the top and nurture the employees with knowledge, growth and opportunity.

I have been working at Copyright Clearance Center full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Was years ago an outstanding place to work. Coincident with new CEO, company culture has changed for the worse. Still good benefits - not a good as years ago and some benefits are not available to new hires. Easy commute from North Shore. Changes could be made in the future that could improve the company culture.

    Cons

Verbally abusive, unprofessional and disrespectful managers are rewarded. Serious issues with deception, violation of conscience and failure to honor commitments are common place. Human Resources utilizes unethical behavior. CEO is flighty and unstable. If considering employment I would advise others to look elsewhere for now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't fix a broken company by measuring how broken it is. Implement decision auditing and workshops for helping management understand how they really are deciding things (versus their mental model which may be incorrect) Track actual decisions and evaluate how well they were made.
