Pros
Good environment; good people; good location.
Cons
Promise of advancement from position at hire, only to find that it is difficult to move within company from the current position when trying to apply within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer some credible professional advice
Pros
Access to senior executives from top companies provides you with a great opportunity to learn.
Cons
You don't work on real projects. Research is too high-level.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase attrition rate
Pros
Fun workmates
Profitable Company
High Energy
Young team
Cons
Long hours
Loads of cold calling
Loads of travelling
Limited ability to build relationships with clients
Advice to Senior Management
Perhaps providing more depth in the offering makes sense, although does potentially add higher fixed costs to service delivery
Pros
1) Offers plenty of vacation for a starting position in the private sector.
2) CEB has a strong image among other employers when seeking new work.
3) Has the potential to start a sales career if you're willing to do your time and pay your way through cold calling, etc.
4) Relaxed working environment.
Cons
1) Can take very little vacation in the 4th quarter of the year (at least this is the case on the revenue side of the house).
2) Relatively poor pay.
3) Work as a Business Development Associate/Specialist/Representative provides very little intellectual stimulation.
4) Vacation doesn'r roll over and you are not reimbursed for it.
5) The casual work environment can lead to some unprofessionalism, particularly in the Business Development roles (kind of a frat party mentality)
Pros
Great Work Culture
Great Team mates
Lot of opportunity to learn new things (limited to what the company does)
Great Compensation
Cons
Promotions dependent on Managers Desire
Managers can be incompetent at times
Advice to Senior Management
Stop promoting incompetent people to Manager and Senior Manager level
Pros
CEB provides a breadth of experience and exposure to different industries at an early stage in your career. Good business model
Cons
Company can lose focus and run to implement new ideas without thinking everything through leading to frustration. Politics and change are constant
Pros
Can-do approach to most things, and some fun people at all levels. Much less stuffy than some advisory firms, and pretty international customer base and scope for getting involved in international issues outside of North America.
Cons
The job titles here are ridiculous for mid mgt upwards in that they seem to relate to the employee, not the role. That means people doing the same role have different job titles, with MD, Snr Director and Director all being given out to people doing the same role, and with some of these (eg, MD) having no direct reports and be a mid-level job! An 'MD' who is mid-level with no one working for them?! This has resulted in job titles being meaningless and causing resentment internally and some smiles (raised eyebrows) externally with customers. HR/TMT need to get on top of this! - if an employee threatens to leave or they have a good year, you just can't decide to give them a bigger job title - the whole system becomes devalued.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a stronger HR/TMT dept who can effectively manage the grading and job title structure, and not always be pushed by the business.
Pros
It's a young work force at the entry level position. CEB also gives the perception that it will help entry level employees develop.
Cons
Most entry level employees leave within 6 months to 1 year. The promotion process isn't as subjective as management wants it to be. It seems as though employees are promoted based on how much management likes them.
Advice to Senior Management
Coordinate the SSPD program promotion system with how each practice is using each AMX/BDX.
Pros
great benefits, intellectual stimulation, incredible networking experience working with clients who are Fortune 100 companies.
Cons
Average of 29 and dominant Gen Y culture
Pros
so far i am constantly learning and all of my colleagues are very smart and driven.
Cons
The office can be political between folks who have been there a while vs newcomers.
