Pros
CSG has a real commitment to the clients we have the privledge to serve. They are consistantly looking for new ways to improve processes and services. If you are looking for a fast paced environment with a real drive to provide value to customers, than CSG is for you. There is also a real understanding of work/life balance, more so than anywhere I have worked previously.
Cons
Smaller company with limited opportunities for advancement and growth. Salary increases are minimal regardless of how well you perform your job.
Advice to Senior Management
Better plan to retain talent and provide advancement opportunities. Create a corporate model for pay increases and bonuses instead of different approach for each department.
Pros
good initial training, great co-workers, wonderful benefits package
Cons
nominal recognition of innovative thoughts, disproportionate pay increases, too many in the middle management level, not enough in worker level
Advice to Senior Management
involve end users in major decisions (what is truly cost effective as opposed to makes the bottom line look good)
Pros
1. Can work with most of the other departments on a regular basis
2. A good-sized company
3. Can work directly with Senior Management
Cons
1. Some top managers lack important knowledge and skills
2. There is not much growth opportunity
3. Many colleagues are not proactive
Advice to Senior Management
1. Listen to subordinates' opinions and consider their advice
2. Understand that we have personal lives too
3. Allow for more time to complete projects
Pros
Senior Management is now taking the employees seriously where the former CEO could have cared less. This has create better dialogue and and actual air of openness. Monetary compensation is the best I've seen which helps even out the times when you are pulling your hair out from the lack of decisiveness that permeates throughout the company. The technology has really come around over the past couple of years which has helped people stay connected and be more productive.
Cons
True decision making is often lacking. Getting some management to respond to even routine requests is back breaking. The culture is more about getting the most quantity out of you at the expense of quality. The benefits offered to it's own employees are embarrassing, especially when you work at an insurance broker.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the employees that are doing the work. Management group meetings are fine, and much better than the former CEO situation, but there is still an obvious top down disconnect that can be overwhelming at time. Input from employees on the decisions that directly impact them or their daily work really should be more open and reinforced positively.
Pros
Business model that seemed great. Company willing to spend money to make things happen. Training was first class. Offices are first class. Fellow employees were for the most part helpful and willing to work together.
Cons
Ex CEO had serious problems and issues in dealing with people/employees. Senior management had no decision powers, everything was micro managed by the CEO. There was too much jumping around from one initiative to another without giving things a chance to work!
Advice to Senior Management
Have a realistic strategic plan and stick to it. Build solid relationships with partners other then carriers that will help to grow the business
Pros
Great coworkers, decent benefits, great immediate boss (best boss I ever had), beautiful new office, great technology, generous with time off, HR great at screening out undesirable workers, company truly tries to educate clients in healthcare issues, they finally got rid of our former ceo who was terribly abusive to most everyone, no one will ever go hungry here--good food around all the time
Cons
lack of career advances, lack of communication, need to play politics with a few Sr. Agents and certain people in certain departments, some coworkers tend to be clicky, some coworkers royally abuse the time off policy which is very generous, constant fear of job security because there is no cross training in the mostly administrative positions, you have to wonder sometimes how some of the management got into their positions because they do not have the qualifications.
Advice to Senior Management
cross-train employees to allow for more productivity for those who want to work hard very day
Pros
Usually there are good open lines of communication between Management and support. Very good at allowing time off for personal use, emergencies, vacation, etc. As far as employee functions, they are usually over the top. Great parties and summer picnics to show employee appreciation. The company completely embraces technology so everyone is connected.
Cons
Support is limited. Lines of communication are usually always open, but almost nothing is ever done about ideas or requests. There is limited informaiton sharing, even within the same departments. Even though the company is cutting edge, many times the technology doesnt work and needs time to be improved which causes delays, and lost time.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees, keep an open mind. Dont be a paper pusher.
