    Benefits, Good Health Insurance and 401k matching

    Cons

    Mediocre company with mediocre people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Quit micro managing, you are not that good at it. Fire the people who do not contribute to the bottom line. Don't fire the ones who are honest and ethical.

    Pros

    - Higher salary compared to local market, good benefits
    - People in other departments are nice
    - If you enjoy being spoken to like an idiot by leadership, this is the place for you!

    Cons

    - Dev organization does not have work/life balance
    - Releases are not well planned and are whatever leadership feels like doing that week, so dev has to make up for it by working weekends
    - CTO leads dev, tech ops, QA, product, and CODES
    - Move to agile development is in name only, no cultural backing from leadership
    - High turnover: people quit frequently after a short tenure, and people are fired frequently
    - Parent company turns a blind eye to leadership's public verbal abuse of employees

    Everyone knows what (who) the problem is.

    Pros

    Greatest and the latest technology. Very good people to work with. Product is used by a lot of big companies and thus can be a stable place to work. Technology team is trying out Agile and they seem to getting on track.

    Cons

    There is still some interference from the top on how people should write code. Work can sometime s get hectic but that is the case with most software jobs. Directors, who are supposed to have learnt the art of communication apparently have not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please ensure that there is a process and it followed to the dot even if it means a couple of delayed product releases. It's extremely important for CSC to ensure that this happens. No company can be centered around one person.(I'm sure you know the person). Also, have some career path for software engineers. One should not join as a software engineer and retire as one.

    Pros

    Great collaboration-no silly pettiness. Everyone drives hard to hit the mark and there is a sincerity to friendships throughout. Opportunites to grow, even outside current department prevelant.

    Cons

    Can get crazy during tax deadlines, and long hours can occur. So often communication can break down and things get missed.

    Management should be a partner not a taskmaster.

    Great Benefits
    Latest and greatest technology

    Cons

    Complete lack of work life balance - you are expected to be on call 24/7/365
    Technology leadership is incapable of cogent technology debate (his opinion is ALWAYS right)
    Technology is run as a totalitarian dictatorship (managers/directors have 0 ability to make decisions)
    Technology has no real roadmap - priority is on keeping the tires on the ground.
    High turn-over rate because of problems with Tech Leadership (this is true for tech-ops, dev, db ops etc..)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Revamp the technology portion of the organization - the way the org chart looks now will never work in the long run.

    at least average base salary

    Cons

    be advised when negotiating salary to base it off 60+ hour work weeks
    minimal remote work opportunity
    bad work/life balance
    unrealistic goals consistently set
    horrible direction in technology decisions
    department not keeping up with company and infrastructure growth

    separation of development and operations at the top level, having good vision and management is required for operations to keep up with company growth.

    -Great for people with families
    -Workplace is quiet (although sometimes too quiet)
    -Monthly birthday/anniversary celebration
    -Very little turnover in most departments

    Cons

    -Work is dull and repetitive
    -Few opportunities to actually use one's education
    -Little to no opportunities for socializing
    -Absolutely no opportunities for advancement in some departments

    Please ensure that every department has opportunities for advancement for non-managerial staff.

    Coworkers are ready to share knowledge.

    Without any analysis adopt new technologies.
    Probs with retaining talent - people quit company.
    Some managers consider people like a slave and have no respect.
    When everything goes wrong, somebody becomes a scape goat.

    Work hard and make your numbers, it's a great place to be. No room for laziness since it's a small company and everyone has to pitch-in.

    Pros

    - Good team members
    - Latest Technology
    - Work from home opportunities
    - The company makes a good product and it is being adopted by many customers so there are opportunities based on company growth.

    Cons

    - Excessive turnover in technology staff and management. In past 12 months, heads of App Dev, Product Development, QA and IT Operations have all left. Staff turnover equally high. You are constantly working with someone new in their job.
    - Senior IT management lacks respect for employee's knowledge or skills.
    - IT Directors and Managers are OK but have their hands tied and all either give up or leave.
    - Highly tense environment caused by senior IT management.
    - Priorities shift frequently and staff takes blame for inability to hit target dates.
    - Unprofessional and occasionally abusive communication from senior IT management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Senior management knows what the issue is from many exit interviews and knows what would be required to change the situation.
