Pros
With 5 years of experience prior to joining this company, I felt I was compensated very well. The experience I have gained has been very good, and I feel it will benefit me when I take my talents elsewhere. The benefits are very good, and include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) and life insurance.
Cons
My immediate supervisor and our regional supervisor do not have good leadership skills. This is very unfortunate, considering the corporate office is thousands of miles away. I feel it is negatively affecting our site and not in the best interest of our client.
Advice to Senior Management
I feel like an increase in corporate presence at the distant sites with newer contracts would allow employees to be able to share their opinions as well as receive advice from people with the expertise to offer valuable information.
Pros
The money was good and there were great opportunities to help the inmates.
Cons
It's not a trustworthy situation.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the staff. Hopefully sooner than later you'll realize you can't play both ends of the game!
Pros
employees are committed to the sites in which they work
Cons
Responsibilities of the job are not supported by the salary
Very political, a lot of nepotism, advancement is not about who would do a great job but about who does the hiring manager know and who has worked with whom.
Little support from upper and senior management.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior leaders at the home office need to mingle with the employees they don't know instead of only conversing with those that they do know. Advancement opportunities should be more about abilities and not about politics
Pros
It is a paycheck. I have coworkerst that I enjoy working with. They are the ones that make the place run. Oh, and it is a paycheck at best.
Cons
The organization by management is poor at best. There is no follow through. The competence of some of the employees is scary. There is no guidance. If management were to be gone for a month no one would notice that they were gone due to the fact that the place would run the same, by the LPNs and RNs that work there and make the place run smoothly without recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
Get some management that knows what they are doing. I am horrified how others medical conditions are shared to the nurses by the DON. When you go to the HSA, who just pacifies you, nothing is done. I have been with them for a year and have had no 90 day 6month or even a one year review. Nothing but negativity is given by management. Also, I would love to have in-services where we actually learn something rather than have our "Nurse Educator" just give us the answers.
