I have been working at Corus Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This British based company tended to allow US based subsidiaries run their business without much intervention.

    Cons

Be prepared for plenty of rules, regulations, and reports. Very structured and standardized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very political organization. Political to the point of distraction. Unless you are a masochist, best approach is to avoid politics altogether and stick to business.

Current Employee - By-products Team Leader in Scunthorpe, England (UK)

I have been working at Corus Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is good for the area.

    Cons

Have to work shifts to make the money up with shift allowance.
    Poorly managed Plants.
Lack of investment leading to major safety concerns for operators work conditions.
Lack of equality in career development. Vacancies for promotion not advertised. Promotions not making sense. Lack of any career ladder for a graduate. De-motivating work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotion should be merited not given through the easiest route open. Company is open wide at present for a discrimination of equality claim. Seriously thinking of placing one myself with a very good claim. Too many people promoted to positions they can't handle. Too many of later then taking extended sick leave as a result. Poorly managed Plants. Serious concerns for operational/process safety. Safety a second priority over cost cutting. Too many in offices collectively doing one persons job. Planners should be doing the Planners. Not collectively the Planners, MT's and Engineering team leaders. Too much of white collar jobs being handed down recently to production team leader. I could go on and on... Poor management is killing the company. Operators with genuine concern and dedication are doing all they can to keep the engine running. But management and day support teams are throwing spanners into the works rather than helping!
