I have been working at Cosentino's Market full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It's locally owned and job security is strong. People are more likely to quit than be fired. Some flexability with schedule as most open 24 hours & only close for one holiday per year.

    Cons

Greed amongst corporate. Corporate jobs overlap so you've got 4+ people telling you to do the same thing different ways. They don't trust store director to do his job, so everyone has their hand up the back of his shirt. They don't offer competitive pay and raises are slim to none. I've only had 2 raises in five years, both of which i had to ask for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read People Over Profit!!! Then live it. Eliminate overlapping corporate roles & funnel that extra cash down to store level. Company needs clear direction & mission. Know your competitors but focus on your employees & customers.

I worked at Cosentino's Market full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

they had good benefits and maxed out quickly and met alot of great people

    Cons

when u max out dont expect anything in return u have day managers trying to micro manage the night crew when none of them have ever worked nights dont expect to ever move up in a manager position unless u know someone at corporate head quarters and when they have rewards and such posted dont expect to be involved in that either. the store directors treat u like garbage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

quit trying to micro manage the night crew when u have never worked nights before u think cause your a store director during the day u know about nights too WRONG!!!!

I have been working at Cosentino's Market full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I have been working as a bakery clerk at Cosentino’s for over a year and so far I have been very satisfied. Consentino’s offers great benefits such as Sunday pay, holiday pay, after a year of employment even part time workers get a week of paid vacation. They offer average pay and a $0.50 pay raise for every 900 hours worked. The managers at the store I work at are friendly and helpful.

    Cons

    Terrible uniform, No employee discount

I have been working at Cosentino's Market full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Starting Pay is above minimum wage.
-Hire high school students with little to no experience.
    -Flexible Scheduling
    -6 month raises

    Cons

-Will never even approach 40 hours to avoid giving benefits and over time pay.
-Some of my coworkers are disgruntled long time employees with no interest in the job, spend the majority of time complaining.
    - Grocery store I work in is old, and outdated. It has water and waste rotting underneath the counters.
    - Understaffed, and slow to replace those that leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow team members to sign away full time benefits so that they can work 40+ hrs, many employees want to work more.

I have been working at Cosentino's Market full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Local Family Owned, Good Insurance

    Cons

No work/life balance, Horrible Pay, Micromanaged, Only advance if you know the right people, Corporate talkes down to managers, Bonus Program is a joke, treats store managers like they are nobody, no holidays for store managers and as small as it is no facial hair.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to move up with the times, pay your employees what they are worth, no need to micro-manage, do things for your employees and they will take care of you. Pay Store Managers a decent bonus, allow store managers to take a holiday around the actual holiday.

I have been working at Cosentino's Market full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

semi-annual raises (until topped out), flexible

    Cons

no room to advance, very strict pay per department, very low top out rates with only a .25 cent raise a year after regardless of performance, only criticized never rewarded, people who work are the ones who get treated the worst, they'd rather keep around the slackers, management usually unwilling to provide any assistance when approached with a problem, poor relationship and people skills

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to your employees! just because you can hire any old guy off the street doesn't mean to run your employees out. don't promote people to positions if you are unwilling to train and provide assistance when constantly asked to do so. no one can be expected to perform a job if you can't provide adequate training.
