I have been working at Costco Wholesale

    Pros

Better hours than many other retailers, major holidays off. Great pay and benefits. Opportunity for advancement if you are a hard worker.

    Cons

It's retail. Very hectic almost all the time, even when it's slow due to cutting hours to save payroll. Difficult to get into company in anything above base part time hourly employee, even with experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of people who slip through the cracks that are slow and lack dedication.

I have been working at Costco Wholesale

    Pros

Fast paced, great benefits, positive environment

    Cons

Hard to promote and have enough time to dedicate to job and family. Sacrifices are made on both fronts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work more with employees first hand to know what they deal with on a daily basis. Hard to take advice from management when they don't physically know how to perform your job.

I worked at Costco Wholesale part-time

    Pros

All of the employees I came in contact with were very helpful and friendly. My supervisor and the woman in HR were also great. Good hourly salary.

    Cons

I didn't receive proper orientation and then was expected to do some things that I hadn't had any training for by other supervisors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure that when you give someone new a new assignment, that they have been properly oriented/trained.

I worked at Costco Wholesale full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Ok pay, ok training, good breaks

    Cons

Too many bosses all telling you to do something different at the same time so nothing gets done and then all you get is a serious telling off or sacked! Also everything has to be millimetre perfect or you get bollocked. High staff turnover as management are nasty uncaring and only care about pleasing the queen of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become humane. Organise a chain of command and stop being scared to lose you own job by being nasty to your staff.

I have been working at Costco Wholesale full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great salary and benefits. Promote from within. Treat employees well. Great team atmosphere. It is a fun environment to work in without a lot of turnover.

    Cons

Working on weekends is required. Heavy lifting is common in any area of the business. Sometimes you have to deal with customers that do not understand the "Costco way" of doing business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!
