    Pros

    -It was a family
-Carlson the corporate company really cares about the employees
-A lot of opportunity to move up in the company

    Cons

    Good place, caring company

I have been working at Country Inns & Suites

    Pros

Employee room discount is very good, caring management that lets you be yourself but also guide you while with them.

    Cons

Corporate needs to monitor franchises closer to ensure their name and reputation are upheld, basic room and public areas cheaply remodeled and falling apart less than6 months after remodeling. Cheap owners don't want to spend ANY money for basic upkeep even after HUNDREDS of guest complaints.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get involved, fix problems instead of ignoring them. Front desk deals with problems and manager NEVER deals with guests issues even when guests ask for manager.

I have been working at Country Inns & Suites part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The hotels are individually owned, and I like who I work for. There are several employee perks, including $45 hotel rooms at most Carlson hotels.

    Cons

Each hotel is required to uphold Carlson's standards, but with individual owners, those vary from location to location.

I have been working at Country Inns & Suites part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The people that work here with me are very helpful and are very passionate about what we do.
Location, its a fast paced hotel and we have a lot of guests staying here since were are located in a area that is flooded with corporate businesses. We are mostly at 100% occupancy at 183 rooms from monday through friday and weekends are stating to rise close to 80% in occupancy.

    Cons

There isn't enough people or budget to accomadate services. However, we get it all don't which means a lot of work load on front desk agents. My responsibilities include, Checking guests in and checking them out. Processing bills and checks. Handling cash and counting banks. I also am responsible to keep the lobby in good condition, which means keeping the coffee filled, fruits restocked, cookies restocked and keeping the area trash free. If a guest calls requesting something, I have to bring it up to their room since we are understaffed in housekeeping. I also help guests with any maintainence or technical support issues they might have. I also help out the breakfast buffet and bust tables to help them out since they also are short staffed. I also drive the hotel shuttle and drop off guests to their work if it is within a 5 mile radius but the San Jose Airport is an exception since it is 5.6 miles away. I also am responsible for organizing and assigning room according to guest membership status and any requests they might have.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think that management is fantastic the only advice I would give is to increase budget and hire more staff since we at the front desk are always swapped with duties.
