    Pros

Awesome culture and company prior to k1 acquisition. Lots of tenured people who know their stuff. Company was (past tense) very much focussed on customer success.

    Cons

Since the acquisition, lots and lots of cuts. Many who weren't cut are voluntarily leaving. They are trying to hire inexpensive (and inexperienced) people to make the company profitable. No severance package provided to terminated employees (read - zero).

    Advice to Management

Learn to lead and inspire your employees. Have a plan and communicate it to inspire confidence. Hold people accountable. Next time you terminate 1/3 of the company, give people a severance package. Don't expect amazingly talented people with "end dates" to stick around.

    Pros

Under this new management, there are no pros

    Cons

Current management is a total joke with no vision.
Everything is done so secretively with ZERO openness - which is totally going against one of Courion's core values.
    No respect for employees.
People are fleeing out of the door.

I worked at Courion full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I can't really think of one.

    Cons

The new management is clearly uninterested in both the business and the employees - they are fixated on getting maximum profit out of an acquired company.

    Pros

Culture and people are good, and some of the managers are good. I lucked out and had a great manager.

    Cons

They started a sales team for a new product, the product was never released and people lost their jobs or positions. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. They also over hired across the board and then when things got tough they freaked and laid off a bunch of people. From what I heard this pattern is common for the CEO. He gets ambitious about new products, and then he steers away and focuses on something else. Unfortunately this means people lose their jobs. CEO also micro manages to the detriment of the company, it may be time for him to step aside.

Marketing folks were constantly getting slammed because nobody knew who Courion was, even though they've been around since 1996!

    Advice to Management

Declare your vision, and stick with it!

    Pros

Courion has some great people and the management team tries to encourage a good work/life balance. Compensation and benefits are on par with other major software companies in the area.

    Cons

Management focuses more on trying to come up with a new magic bullet product, rather than devoting attention to resolving customer issues.
There are some "lifers" who have been with the company way past their "sell-by" date. As a result, it's difficult to push new ideas if you're not one of the in-crowd.

    Pros

Bagel Wednesdays - Relaxed hours come and go as you please.....

    Cons

Horrible culture, horrible company dynamic, micromanaged, male dominating company, no ideas are taken from lower level employees, only the same old ideas from the same senior employees that have worked here for years...sad company to work for with nothing fresh, or hip and happening with todays market, cultures, and dynamics.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN, TAKE ADVICE, ASK EACH EMPLOYEE FOR ONE THING THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE AND EACH DAY APPLY IT IN SOME WAY. STOP THINKING ABOUT OR PORTRAYING HOW MUCH BETTER YOU ARE THAN EVERYONE ELSE BECAUSE WE ALL PUT OUR PANTS ON THE SAME WAY, ONE LEG AT A TIME. EVERYDAY PEOPLE DONT CARE WHAT ROLE YOU HAVE IN A COMPANY JUST THAT YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON. TAKE A HINT!

CEO is very involved in everyone's work. It would be a good idea if he could allow others to lead and make decisions that stick.
