I worked at Cousins Subs part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It is an easy job to pick up. All aspects of working their are fairly simple, but everything must be done to perfection. The work environment is semi-peaceful, and you do not need to expend much physically.

    Cons

There is much expected of you from the higher-up management. There are many regulations that can be difficult to follow and tedious steps that must be performed when carrying out actions, such as taking a customers order and having to tell them about every deal and sweepstake they can take advantage of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seek perfection from all areas, but do not expect it and punish those who do not achieve it.

    A short term job

I worked at Cousins Subs part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with were great and I was rarely overstressed. The management was always available and flexible whenever I need to change shifts. The hierarchy was very apparent.

    Cons

There were no set hours, lots of weekends and night shifts, and low pay, but it's all to be expected with the fast food industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and establish a more determined schedule to help the employees plan the rest of their lives. It's the nature of the business to always have shifting schedules, but reliable hours go a long way, and make things much easier.

I have been working at Cousins Subs part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

What made it great for me was the people that I worked with. Work environment was nice and free food at the end of the shift was a plus. The store I worked at closed at 7 every day except on Sundays when we closed at four.

    Cons

On weekdays only short, 3 hour shifts were available. The store I worked at really needed an update, only certain stores had grills while the rest had microwaves. Our store still used microwaves.

    I worked at Cousins Subs

    Pros

Pay and benefits are not bad.
    Hours can be flexible.
Provides a decent product that you can be proud of.

    Cons

The management seems to be serving two masters. You would think that customers that walk into the stores would be the main focus, but it often seems that the people who buy sandwiches are regarded as a product to be sold to potential franchisees.

If you are seen as part of the inner circle for upper management, and you avoid pointing out any problems they would rather not see, you will do fine. Otherwise, you are looked down on, as only being a store employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those who work in your stores. They are your front-line. If you want to know what your customers are thinking or asking for, do not ignore these resources. Christine Specht (the current CEO) needs to understand it takes more than a pretty face on TV to make a successful company.

    I worked at Cousins Subs

    Pros

No experience necessary, jobs are usually available, not a high pressure environment, and you definitely get to benefit from the yummy subs!

    Cons

Not the career I need long term as it was just a teenage job. It is not overly fulfilling or rewarding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The manager I had was not the best, but corporate did come in several times while I was there and I was also secret shopped. These employees were better at offering feedback than the manager.

I have been working at Cousins Subs

    Pros

Flexible work schedule. Some freedom with decisions as you progress. a sense of accomplishment with some of the homemade products.

    Cons

The benefits are mediocre at best. no dental, no vision, vacation time isn't competitive. Untimely review process, not punctual. pay raises not competitive. bonus process isn't stringently followed. i wonder how much bonus money I've missed out on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create an option where franchise employees can opt out of their current spots and try to compete for jobs with corporate.
