    Pros

Good at processing H1-B visas and green card applications, given their rich experience.
Good for young professionals just starting their career.

    Cons

For a bit senior professionals, there is no career path to advance. Even with a newly minted MBA, they would still want you to do the same job, without a slight chance of advancing to a higher level.

They tended to do a lot of "staff augmentation" projects, meaning, just sending people to work for big companies as contractors. In the consulting sector, this is nicknamed "body-shopping".

Management is quite Indian style, with refined skills in withholding information and misleading their subordinates.

The executive team was not effective in forming and executing strategies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be real and be honest with employees.

"Covansys is good company for lethargic people, not for good performers "

    I worked at Covansys

    Pros

Covansys is a good company for who does not have out standing technical skills and who expects buttering. This company is totally good for new comers and not for outstanding performers. No process, No protocol, No growth, No appreciation from Acct Managers. Ofcourse Compensation and Medical benifits are bit Ok than other employers and 401 k as well.

    Cons

This company ios losing reputation because of Account Managers and all full time employees are leaving this company just because of Account level managers and they are not getting any benifits and recognition, just account level managers are treating fulltime employees like a slave, and no respect at all. No employee can expect any growth if you want to be in this company and work as a donkey without expecting anything...even if you operform well at customer site the accout level managers do not give any appreciation and they dont pass this to HR or higher management they are just becoming like a big wall between employees and HR management. There are many politics going on at customer site, and they are taking full of sub contractors in place of fultime employees, even when the budget cut happens at the customer site they wantedly remove fulltime employees and keeping sub conmtractors unwantedly this is happening sice couple of years everywhere in customer locations in Covansys. Just because of commission they are taking sub contractors and keeping at customer site, even they are not eligible for that perticular position and even they do not have minimum performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please evaluate all Account Managers performance and remove them from the company, and keep eye on all accout level managers and how they are performing and treating employees at customer location. Please give first priority to fulltime employees instead of sub contractor when you do follow these steps this company will be in good shape otherwise this company will lose all good performers.

    I worked at Covansys

    Pros

The company offers a good medical insurance plan and 401K matching. The medical insurance plan typically has an option for 100% coverage. The travel policy is also quite reasonable.

    Cons

Isolated work environment and disjointed systems. Management obviously lacks training, not held accountable, routinely fails to provide necessary resources to perform work, and is occasionally unresponsive or slow to respond. No investment in meaningful employee training and little opportunity for advancement. Performance reviews totally meaningless. Raises are generally poor regardless of performance. No discernible career track. Best managers regularly separate from the company. If you are serious about your career, work here only if you don't have other available options. If you accept employment, don't plan to stay too long because the focus is on old technology. Overall, this company is best seen in your rear view mirror.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company will continue to lose good workers in environment where solid performance is not rewarded, managers are not held accountable for performance, and no oversight is provided. To be competitive, the company will need to embrace technological advances.

    I worked at Covansys

    Pros

Benefit and vacation package good - we were outsourced and they were forced to give us what we originally had from our previous employer. Close to home.

    Cons

Management treated employees like a number. Employees were overloaded with projects, sometimes juggling over a dozen at a time. Project management was non-existent. Even though they had a project management office, once project was in your lap, the management was gone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to trust and reward employees who continue to perform. Treat employees like the professionals that they are. Work success should be rated by project, not the time they get in or how many hours they work per day.
