    Cons

I have been working at Covenant Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good name recognition. Pay is decent

    Cons

Prefer to hire less direct care staff to meet their bottom line. Management is hardly even visible because they are constantly in meetings. Therefore they know nothing about staffing shortages or other problems. They probably don't care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want better patient reviews and better reimbursement have enough staff to get the job done. Overworking your current staff leads to more mistakes and burn out. Patients see that and become dissatisfied and it reflects in the HCAHP scores. Perhaps you become less concerned with your own pay check and be willing to hire extra staff (even if that means just more PRN) to account for patient acuity and getting the job done.

I worked at Covenant Health full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great co-workers and a good place to start a career if you don't know any better.

    Cons

They blaze in and take over, firing anyone with any relationships established outside the Covenant System. For patients it's like Hotel California. Once you check in, you can't check out. They tell you who you can/can't use for health care. They don't give patients any choices at all. They make a point to bring in outside employees and find small reasons to fire anyone who makes more money than they want to pay or anyone with family working for other organizations. They hire cheap, inexperienced nurses and doctors. It's all about the dime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's a great place to start a career. If you are unfortunate enough to be established at a place taken over by Covenant, life as you know it is over.

I have been working at Covenant Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fellow employees are generally caring, reliable and great people to work with. Company appears to be stable, with no fear of impending job losses.

    Cons

Management skills of some in leadership positions is questionable. Equipment is sometimes dated and well-used. Salary is below norm and does not adequately reflect higher educational levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reevaluate importance of and compensation for employees who are not doctors or nurses. Hospitals cannot run well without qualified support staff. Thank you for pre-employment background checks and for hiring (mostly) educated and trustworthy staff members.

I have been working at Covenant Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay, people, benefits. friendly and care of patients.

    Cons

Most times the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Lots of promises that never come true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep us all informed and try to move fast making decisions. Most of the time we get told that this or that is going to happen and it never happens.

    Pros

great co-workers - this place used to be a great place to work

    Cons

They hire alot of family which means - if they want your hours, they get them. Watch your paycheck and your vacation hours - they seem to come up short. They like to hire students at less money and keep a few seniors to pick up the slack.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Covenant Health

    Pros

The benefits were good. Pay was comparable to other hospitals in the area. I liked my patients and most of my job duties.

    Cons

Management did not listen to their employees needs or concerns for patient care. It was difficult to speak to anyone above you about any problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on patient care and less on meeting certain numbers or goals. Also pay attention to your employees' concerns about patient care, they are the ones working with them daily.
