Pros
Friendly employees. Wonderful physicians and nurses. R.T. are the best. I have made friends with my co- workers, we are like family. I love how all the different units pull together for the best outcome for the patient. The health insurance is very affordable. The retirement plan is excellent. I like that we as the employees are asked to be on different committies asn we are able to have input in future plans.
Cons
I wish we were allowed more sick days. Six days per year just isn't enough for parents of little children who get sick frequently, nor is it enough time if you have an elderly sick parent to take care of. I wish the nurse/patient ratio was lower, when we have five or six patients it becomes difficult to clock out on time without getting overtime, not to mention I think that it isn;t very safe.
Advice to Senior Management
Our charge nurses need to be team players if they are going to try to lead a team. Lazy employees need to be reprimanded, employees that are "pot stirring" need reprimanded as well. You can't run a unit to be a team if this behavior is allowed.
Pros
The benefits are very good
Cons
The pay is low and the management is out of touch.
Advice to Senior Management
value your employees more! This leads to high morale...which translates to increased profits in the short and long run!
Pros
The benefits were great, made friends at work, and it was like family. Your opinion did matter long ago. Also, my supervisor was great in teaching me the ropes and willing to give me opportunities to learn and grow. There are many wonderful doctors and nurses who do care about their patients.
Cons
Management started to look to Dallas versus local to hire for staff within Finance department. Also, willing to write up an employee despite the FMLA act and will call you while you are on leave. Was called numerous times while on doctors orders to stay home. Management willing to pass the buck.
Advice to Senior Management
I've left my feedback and have yet to see any changes. I doubt anything will change since they still have the same upper management. However, please note that despite how the administration was held, Covenant does have some wonderful doctors and nurses who do want to make a difference. It is not their fault on how it is being managed. California needs to stop killing the sacred cow.
Pros
The people are friendly, it is low stress. Everyone makes you feel welcome and the likelihood of promotion seems very attainable.
Cons
The pay was a major setback for me. I have been working here for 4 years now and have not increased my pay by more than a dollar per hour.
Advice to Senior Management
I think Covenant should stop doing layoffs as a way to save money, instead evaluate the top managerial positions and see if thats where the problems may lie.
Pros
It's a fairly flexible company.
Cons
The leadership doesn't seem to care what happens at any of its facilities, as long as your within their guidelines. Stray from that, and they're all over you. There is a nasty side to management that is unseemly.
Advice to Senior Management
Get it over with and take over all the facilities you run. Everyone knows you're the ones calling the shots.
Pros
The best reason to work for Covenant is the ability to work in a fexible environment. My department is very small so I have a lot of freedom to work at my own pace, give my own creative input, and in some ways be my own boss. With Covenant's paid time off we receive about 7 hours per pay period that we can take at any time with approval of course.
Cons
The type of work I was hired to do did not require a degree so the payscale is not contingent with my experience. Since my department is so small there is not an opportunity for a promotion, otherwise this would be the perfect job!

Pros
There are friendly people all over that work here. Some of the best nurses in the world work here.
Cons
Bad management. Lots of backstabbing. Supplies are not always there when needed. There are too many people that do nothing here and get paid for it.
