Pros
Advanced career opportunity is readily available.
Cons
With so many departments and people, sometimes it hard to know who does what.
Pros
Ok if you want to gain some professional business experience but don't plan on staying
Cons
Management likes you only if your one of their pets. If you don't lick their boots, your treated like an outsider and made feel unwelcome. Years of service don't mean a thing, loyalty, arriving on time 100 %, working optional over time 100 %, always being a team player, it all means nothing if your not an ass kissing boot licker to the management which is by the way is a joke. most of the supervisors should't be allowed to supervise a horse stable clean up crew.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people like people, treat everyone the same, not just the one's that kiss up
Pros
I restarted my carrier in Customer Service at Coventry after I decided that Sales is not for me. I was able to learn about an industry that I previously did not have knowledge of (Managed Care), and I was able to gain technical and analytical skills that are valuable to Coventry, and transferable to other Managed Care organizations as well as other industries. After 10 years, I am still optimistic about my opportunities at Coventry.
Cons
Compensation has been less than what I have known there to be amongst peers in other similar positions. Salary increases are generally 3% annually, but there are annual bonuses, which are provided to nearly all competent employees, that helps to make up for the deficiencies in salary increases.
Pros
The employees at the non management level are absolutely wonderful. That's the only good thing I can say about this company.
Cons
Management has no respect for the subordinate employees and run the office on fear. I learned a long time ago that you are to manage numbers not employees. Employees are to be lead not managed.
If the management in the Moon Township office would realize the talent they have in their office the office would run very smoothly.
Lack of communication is a huge problem
If you chose to work here make sure you get everything in writing because job descriptions, and task directions will change to make the management look good.
Management does not back their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
From the RVP down to the team supervisors please realize you have a great office full of talented people. Stop managing them and let them do their assigned jobs. There is no need to micro manage. Make sure that all offices are working under the same handbook not office to office.
Pros
-Solid benefits from day 1 of employment
-Free parking
-Nice building
-Little weekend work required
-Laid-back atmosphere
-Easy interviews
-They let you work from home (even if you are hourly)
Cons
-Low pay
-Raises capped at 10% (but it seems few obtain even half of that)
-Way too many levels of management
-Poor management
-Promises of holiday bonuses that never materialize
-Hourly workers gouge coventry (and it's shareholders) for OT pay and consistantly get away with it
Advice to Senior Management
-Half of you should be fired simply due to over-poplulation.
-Reign in the hourly workers (especially those who work from home)
Pros
convenient locations, good learning experience. There are some strong people and because of the high turnover rate due to low morale and low salaries it is fairly easy to get lots of responsibility very quickly--just don't expect to be paid for it.
Cons
far below market pay, matrix management makes for mixed messages, long timers in company stay in positions regardless of competence. There's a great emphasis on political correctness over productivity, and treatment across the operations is extremely inequitable. At the same time operations areas are forbidden vacation days during busy seasons, other areas within the same company are thrown holiday parties. In all it contributes to the general malaise and high turnover.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay people a market wage.
