Development or Training is not where it should be for this company. There is lack of direction for upper senior managment.

    Pros

Laid back environment, easy to get days off, managers and directors all highly professional. It's an easy place to work if you're looking for a 40ish hour work week and no pressure

    Cons

Difficult to advance. Most people there end up leaving to a competitor for more $$ or a promotion. It's common to hear "oh Joe Smith went to Highmark" or "Mary Smith went to UPMC." Departments don't communicate well and a lot of things slip through the cracks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more to help people advance and you'll stop losing talent to competition.

Current Employee - Senior Actuarial Analyst in Harrisburg, PA

    Pros

The company is acquired by Aetna and is changing to a more formalized big company culture and value employee more. have more formal and organized corporate structure

    Cons

In the past, usually high turnover rate, a lot of people leaving because they don't think they can be promoted in the company. Now this side seems to be improving. But the job stability may be a big issue in the next two years while in transition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your work force as of today, don't think you can let them go and find some one better. Your investment on the existing employees will be paid off if they keep on working for you.

    Pros

Love (loved) the work there. The business was hungry for organizational and talent development. Great people!

    Cons

The HR organization was very much a fiefdom. The leader was ineffective, but punishing to the team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
