I have been working at Coventry Health Care full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of varied projects and opportunities to learn. Most senior people are very committed, everyone works hard and takes ownership of the work.

    Cons

Simply too much work, and absolutely no "work-life" balance. People are expected to be at work or available via email, with little regard to any personal plans or commitments. leaving early or coming in late - even if it's pre planned seems to raise eyebrows.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open about expectations, tell people what variances in their schedule are acceptable, and when/if it's okay to say "I can't take any more projects".

    Pros

Coventry Healthcare was a good place to work with a nice balance of work/life balance. With option of telecommuting.

    Cons

Coventry Healthcare was recently bought out by Aetna and I don't feel it will be the same. Recently Aetna laid off employee across the board.

Tampa office 2 years in and am seeking medical help for stress related illness.

Current Employee - UR Nurse in Tampa, FL
Current Employee - UR Nurse in Tampa, FL

I have been working at Coventry Health Care full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Some benefits are good, some are just Ok. Coventry was just bought out by Aetna, so no of raises this year. We are "new employees" to them. They did a wonderful thing for the LPN,s and began paying them overtime after 40 hours. RN's stayed on salary, and are expected to work overtime w/o pay.

    Cons

Production production production production. Promises to work at home come with improbable standards and uneven playing field
    Nurses are not valued.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember this... All of your nurses stood in a darkened auditorium during their pinning ceremony and with our candlelit Florence Nightengale lamps, we recited the Florence Nightengale Pledge. True, there are some corporate nurses who never stood at the bedside, but most of us are there to take good care of your members the best we know how. Nursing is a calling, and we took vows to promote health in all living things. That is where our spirits find satisfaction and peace, and when we are free to do that, we start loving what we do again. Please start taking care of your nurses. When your nurses feel valued, happy and satisfied, everybody is happy.
