Pros

The Products the company makes are generally very well designed and made. In general the sales force is extremely motivated and possibly the best trained in the medical community.

Cons

The Marketing Strategy is very disjointed, product line to product line, product to product, or even month to month. There was a lot of turnover among senior leadership, and with each change comes a new culture. Rather than building up and enhancing a brand to boost sales, the company consistenty chooses layoffs for cost containment.

Advice to Senior Management

Promote from within and build consistency of culture; try to keep the same strategy for at least a year before changing course. Price products competitively.

Good pay but you have to fight for it

Managers are incompetent and very disrespectful to low level employees. Everybody is clueless

There are a lot of good people here. I think Joe has the right idea. Now he just needs to change the culture, get managers in line and being consistent.

RS is by far the most dysfunctional company I have ever worked for. Processes are extremely burdensome. Sr mgmt is overreactive and volatile to things to the point of looking ridiculous. Sr. mgmt keeps changing things up to cover their own incompetencies and bad decisions. They seem incapable of assigning the right resources to the right job and to the critical path which causes major resource gaps and upheavals weekly. There are constant firedrills. In last 6 months it went from a fun organic environment with a good team vibe to a cutthroat cya environment. Some people at the director level are incapable of managing people or doing their job. People are not enabled which means they wait to see whatthey shouid work on based on how violently mgmt reacts to issues put in front of them. Given the volatile mgmt The whole work life pitch you get in the interview is bs and depending on what department you work in, you may have some or no flexibility.

Advice to Senior Management

Lead by example. Don't hold current employees responsible for your or others past mistakes. How about consistency.

The Surgical Solution Group is a growing division with a strong pipeline of innovative products and technologies.

The number of reorganizations in the past few years has increased in frequency and scale, which limits professional growth and consistency.

It was challenging with constant daily demands and putting out fires, but it was very rewarding in that I learned a lot faster there than I would at another medical devices company.

Don't let the teams run too lean, it can lead to burnout.

Covidien is increasing its footprint in India in a great way. The top management from corporate has great committment to put covidien on the map of India. The R&D centre is a very enriching place to work, for all R&D engineers who aspire to make a difference in medical device domain would find wrking at covidien R&D a great experience.
It give excellent global exposure to its employees and opportunities to grow and prove oneself are immense.

Cons

the brand needs to establish itself in India as its not well known yet
