I have been working at Covisint full-time

    Pros

The benefits are decent and work life balance is reasonable most of the time. Nice office space.

    Cons

The technology is old. The workplace can be very political. Inter-department communication between departments is horrible and it's not much better intra-department. Most of your time is spent putting out fires

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out what your products should be instead of trying to be everything to everyone.

I have been working at Covisint full-time

    Pros

    -Good benefits
    -Relaxed work atmosphere
    -WFH flexibility
-Cutting edge business area (medical software)

    Cons

-Customers sneeze, you catch a cold
-Regression to fire fighting instead of sticking to plan and direction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't worry as much about the IPO. Figure out the direction of the business, write it down, and head in that direction, even if you need to hire a few more people that are sheltered from the storm to get you to your final destination.

lots of turnover and lack of direction --- too much blame on sales --- not sales-focused enough

I worked at Covisint full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    nice building at HQ.
    cafeteria and gym are awesome.
    free parking downtown.
    that's it.

    Cons

TONS of turnover in sales due to firings, lack of opportunity, and people quitting.
    I should have left earlier.
Hired too many sales morons from a "good old boy" network from Bob Paul's former days at other companies.
Never gave me the option to look for other gigs w/in Compuware.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are opening up a new market, incentivize reps appropriately and give them the support and backing to get things done vs. too many B.S. internal meetings where other sales "so-called leaders" are bragging about their lame ideas without their ability to execute.

I have been working at Covisint full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Dedicated co-workers, great technology applied in cutting edge ways to solve interesting problems. Flexible hours, and the ability to work from home when necessary. Tremendous growth in Covisint is beginning to provide a lot of opportunities for professional development.

    Cons

That "ability to work from home" bit is a double edged sword. Senior management seems to expect employees to work 24/7 - whatever it takes to meet the next insane deadline. Long nights, even longer weekends. And it's not just a short term crunch in one department, it's a company-wide culture. It's every day, every week, every month. Employee moral is very low, mainly due to this one issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop looking for heroes and start planning ahead.

I have been working at Covisint full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

flexible environment, great facility with wellness center, daycare etc, heart of downtown, surrounded by restaurants and parks. you get access to free parking over the weekends as well for any events.

    Cons

They work like any staff augmentation company. Except few roles, you are supposed to do anything and you dont build your career in any specific area, if thats what you are looking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should consider investing in some team building activities.

    Pros

Not entirely run by the sales group.
Beautiful building in Downtown Detroit with many amenities including a gym and an extensive cafeteria.
Can work from home when necessary.

    Cons

    They nixed the education benefit.
They don't get rid of poor performers quickly enough, causing drama.

I have been working at Covisint

    Pros

The people who I work with are just really down to earth and very good people. Everyone has a job to do and they do it. My team lead and manager are very understanding of when I need to take time off or just need to work from home in order to take care of things. Love working with all the big time projects like DMC, GM, AT&T and many more companies.

    Cons

For being a Technology company, we are like 10 years behind on the technology and tools which we use in order to do our job. Also no room to learn new things, because as a SQA Engineer here your not allowed access to the SQL Databases nor any of the other servers which are needed in order to perform our job. We have to put a request in for a team to do this for us.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the Engineers on the projects instead of just the PM's and Managers.

    Pros

Great opportunity to work on cutting edge technology, including a wide range of open source. Good coworkers.

    Cons

They will work you to death. Deadlines vary between unreasonable and insane. Overtime is generally expected, and it is not really rewarded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your employees more, or they will take all the great experience you've given them and find a better paying and easier job elsewhere.
