Pros
Free cable, pretty good health
Cons
Extremely rude customers, every single thing you do is monitored and almost every rule contradicts itself. Quality annoys customers more than it "gives a good customer experience". Technicians can ruin your stats while doing a crappy job.
Advice to Senior Management
The complete quality system needs to be re worked.
Pros
good benefits, opportunities for advancement, dynamic environment in some locales where new positions are being created to follow the income streams
Cons
Changing marketplace means some positions and opportunities are evaporating, creating tense atmosphere in the office I was in, where employee morale was falling
Advice to Senior Management
realize that employees being asked to provided information that may lead to their position being eliminated have little incentive to cooperate with management
Pros
benifits, a legit company. almost free cable.
Cons
no movement. managment disconnect. decrease in pay every year I have been here which is 6 years.
Advice to Senior Management
Look within your own people to promote and get ideas from.
Pros
Lots of vacation time, good benefits, hours that rarely change. Get to work indoors in a nice office building. The pay can't be beat for the type of work being done.
Cons
The days drag on and on and working in a call center really is soul-draining work. The customers are rude and entitled and think that they own you.
Advice to Senior Management
Management does an awful lot of listening but that's all they do. They want your opinion but they rarely make changes based on the advice of their subordinates. It's the corporate way or the highway.
Pros
Very organized, when it comes to getting paid, benefits package, or finding information on current work duties. I also like their ticketing systems which were very good, and I used it to find out how to do my job better and to find out what problems others in my position have faced. i.e. website password reset issues, or how to fix a known IT problem (I am in IT).
Cons
Some of the management were not as knowledgable as some of the employees in some tasks, so just like any large corporation, there was a lot of kiss up people, but that's any job.
Advice to Senior Management
I would say to allow more people to move into senior roles.
Pros
work truck, independence, tools provided, work provided, high tech, meet lots of people, side jobs
Cons
lame-o supervisor, not real intelligent co-workers, can be high stress at times, not a real sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, working in attics when it's hot, crawling when it's wet under houses, learning curve for newbies.
Advice to Senior Management
not too much advice here, they have it pretty well figured out. maybe not to make so many irrational changes that affect our ability to make sales by changing promotion codes, percentages, etc..
Pros
Amazing benefits
Free cable and internet saves you money
Laid back enviornment but still professional
Pay is reasonable for daytime hours
Food during payperview fights
Cons
Supervisor is clueless to what we have to deal with on the phones because he has never taken a call and when he did he was a deer in headlights, forced to sell when in training we were told.first we never had to worry about doing that then by another that we had to. The training schedule was very unorganized sometimes left alone for hours with noone to train, the fact that troubleshootingwith angry and stupid people isnt worth the pay when you havea time limit to meet on your calls and thats another lie we were told in training that we didnt have a set time required per call since troubleshooting can take a.while. Overall I cant stand a company that cant get their facts straight and have so many problems with their equipment that I get cussed at for on a daily basis. The pay helps with bills but not enough for a full time student with goals. I should have applied at direct tv, they offer overtime as.a guarentee unlike cox.
Advice to Senior Management
Train your sups thouroughly they even complain to us that they dont want to be there anymore, whos fault is that. Upper management dont care.
Pros
Free cable and internet if you work for Cox. yay
Cons
Way too many road block to sell their products. Training was horrible. I had no telecom background and had a week worth of training. So that did not go over to well. I had no idea what I selling or how to sell. I finally get product training 8 month later. Really????? By then who cared becuase I was ready to quit. Sales reps on top of each other and stepping on toes. You better keep track of you CRM because another sell rep with take it right underneath your nose. So sad. I was guilty of that because there little policing. Eat or be eaten. So sad. Management team is horrible. Really don't want to help sell and go on appointment with you. Just sad. High turn over rate. But Cox's gotten a little bit better since I was hired in 2009.
Advice to Senior Management
speachless.
Pros
overall a very good company. very very good and visible community partner. people are genuinely nice and help. nice discount on company services (cable, phone, internet).
Cons
not very clear about strategic direction and how those plan filter down and impact the general employees. seems like there's a lot of "throw against the wall and let's see what sticks" approach
Advice to Senior Management
Be open and honest with all employees. Don't try to sugar coat any negative messages - we are all adults.
Pros
Warm, home grown feel. Good pay.
Cons
personnel too young and uneducated
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the employees as well as to the customers.
