Pros
Great Work Environment
Awesome Products
Positive Atmosphere
Provide great offers for us to sell
AWESOME BENEFITS
Cons
Need to Listen to Employees regarding feedback
The reorganizations need to be more organized
Communication is lacking over the past couple months
Need more tools for success
Quota is unreasonable in current economy
Sometimes I feel like were competing against ourselves
Advice to Senior Management
I feel that you should groom more employees for opportunities for advancement. I feel that the communication is lacking from Senior Management. Even though reorganizations happen make sure all ducks are in a row before roll out. The re-org starts out really organized but then its as if the time expires and its ready or not here it comes. The commission Structure needs to increase not decrease. GET THE CUSTOMER SERVICE BACK TO THE WAY IT USED TO BE!!!!
Pros
Please listen to your employees
Cons
WIll be out of business in 3-5 years
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees
Pros
Excellent assignment of projects. Flexible work hours. Moderate workload
Cons
Can not hire H1B visas
Advice to Senior Management
Please try to hire H1B's and encourage talent.
Pros
1. Great Product
2. Great Benefits
3. Good Training
Cons
1. One of the most politically managed call centers i have ever worked in.
2. Open door policy is exactly that, cannot trust anything you say will not be kept confidential or used against you.
3. Not aware of what feedback is
4. "At will state" is a common phrase used by senior leadership.
5. Corporate does not support employees.
6. Senior leadership motto "Its what is perceived that counts not what you actually do"
7. HR is only there to support senior leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
This is more advice to the corporate offices, if you want to know exactly what is going on in your call center send a corporate representative under cover as a entry line sales representative and you will have all the information you need to make increase moral, have a competent senior management staff, increase revenue and reduce further cost. You have a large % of your senior management staff that has been bleeding the company and ruining the name of Cox.
Pros
Great work. High caliber of competence.
Cons
Bureaucratic. Senior leadership needs to provide higher standards of accountability.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior leadership needs to provide higher standards of accountability. The decentralized decision making process is making the organization less competitive.
Pros
Time off is very generous
Exceptional discounts
Extensive training and communication
Eco friendly
Very friendly and tolerant work place
Modern facilities
Cons
Poorly designed and implemented software
Private company so all communications, activities, and advertisements are very plain
Will listen to all feedback but is not very receptive to it
Services are always months, if not years, behind the competition
Advice to Senior Management
Stop targetting the low income and elderly demographics in an attempt to persuade the ignorant and save money. There is far more money to be made by appealling to everyone, even if you are not making as much per individual.
Pros
- excellent pay
- excellent benefits
Cons
- like most corporations, advancement is more often a matter of who you know, and not what you know
- the supervisors are generally incompetent; you would expect your manager - or any manager - to know more than you; in reality, at Cox, it's almost ways the direct report that knows more, so when you need help, going to a supervisor is generally a no-no
- horrible lack of communication between floor employees and management; every time you ask a different manager a question about a policy or change thereof, you almost invariably get a different and conflicting answer. The most grating example is when a manager shrugs his or her shoulders and says, "I-uh-no (I don't know.)" Pathetic.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire supervisors with relevant experience; do you think field technicians would be well managed by someone who has never worked a day as a field tech?
Pros
employee pride - hard working group of people who generally do their best
friendly environment
company well regarded in the community
Fairly generous benefits overall
Cons
People are worn out - Llas vegas is #1 across the company - but not enough time is taken to recognize the success
Mostly a hierarchical leadership structure and approach - not progressive
Advice to Senior Management
Don't forget to celebrate success especially with such significant accomplishments
Sr. Leaders shoud take the same development courses they ask their people to take (role model)
People in corporate roles need to seek out input from field leaders more effectively to ensure they have more thoroughly considered impacts before rolling out new initatives
Pros
Great at giving time off, having free cable, internet and phone service, pay is good, lots of contests to make selling fun
Cons
bad upper managment, when they make a mistake in your commission you have to pay for it
Advice to Senior Management
Be more involved in what is going on with your managers. Managers i have seen do nothing at all and when we complain about it nothing happens
Pros
The people in the Santa Barbara office were great. Cox used to be very family oriented.
Cons
They cut jobs when they were making money in the industry. The corporate people took advantage of the downturn in the economy to lay off many good people. They only think about the bottom line now. They no longer care about the employees that work for the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember the roots of the company. James M Cox would be horrified to know that his company or any of its subsidiaries were treating its employees so bad. Read his Biography!
