Pros
Relaxed environment, supervisors are easy to get along with. Plenty of training. Management will work with you to make sure you have all the tools and training necessary.
Cons
New director and management are turning the sales dept into customer service. Commissions have been cut in half since last year. Not really rewarded for being a top sales agent any longer.
Advice to Senior Management
Start rewarding your top reps again.
Pros
Compensation Great. Pay was wonderful. The customers atrocious.
Cons
No encouragement or need t o stay if something else comes up.
Advice to Senior Management
Respect your employees. The customer is not always right!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros
Benefits are good, most people are nice and friendly. They offer good training and side by side coaching if on the phones.
Cons
Management micro manages, company goes by the book "corporate" environment. Everything is a scheduled hardly any flexibility within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Reduce the micro managing, may increase your work force to feel more comftorable. Managers should hear out their employees regarding concerns rather than listen and ignore.
Pros
Well, you get freecable, kind of.
Cons
You can never get a answer on any thing. If you ask, it is most likely that you will be told to let management or your Team Leader know what u find. They were driven by R.G.U,s an now they are driven by Homecertification witch takes longer to balance hous an equipment, an f.s.r is not given more time to do job there for your point per hr go down or you short cut your job an stick it to the customer an your repets go up. There was a time when f.s.r. could sale the customer on ((free)) internet if you were at there hous an they did not have internet threw cox an you could earn some money that way but they took that away too...THX... This list of things can go on an on an on..
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employes an act quicker then you do now, witch at this point takes years or not at ALL.
Pros
The commission structure was good.
Cons
Not a lot of opportunities for salary advancement. Too many mid-level management people just doing the bare minimum.
Unethical management from the top down. Business decisions are often based on who the decision maker is in bed with. Mediocrity is rewarded and promoted. "Cox Values" and other catch phrases are used by all levels of management but their actions rarely conform to the "values" they spew. Not a results oriented company, ridiculous procedures are more important than results. Two good examples are their IT and Travel departments. Employees are viewed as a necessary yet expendable nuisance. Ineffective HR department that allows nepotism and other unethical practices to continue such as not respecting any type of employee confidentiality.
Advice to Senior Management
Make mid-level management more efficient.
Pros
The money and the benefits. The field operations team and managers were great. Oh, and the customers. I really enjoyed working with the customers. The building is nice, too bad the Director of Facilities was let go for complaining about the way employees were treated. He did a really nice job.
Cons
Senior Management was cruel, sophmoric, and cliquey. Employees are kept out of the loop, which is probably a good thing, since the Senior Team and many Directors were a group who seemed more interested in getting rid of employees then in creating good service for the customer and great products. Anyone who does not agree with top management or the Operating Vice President, was let go, no matter how small the issue or how valuable of an employee you were. As the top guy once famously said at a leadership meeting, "You have to drink the Kool Aid to be successful here." You are reading this correctly, a reference was made between the Jonestown Massacre and Cox Communications, Arizona. Very apt, all things considered. I personally know about 20 managers who were terminated for little or no reason. Better drink the kool aid.....
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out something else to do at a company that values and supports its customers and its staff. There are a lot of companys like that out there.
Pros
A lot of time off is given to you from the get go. it also goes up a week every 5 years. They also pay pretty decent and give you free cable and internet which everyone loves.
Cons
The fact that your job responsibilities change all the time and your pay will constantly go down. The company finds ways to give you paycuts as you go along. The only people that are happy at Cox are the new hires because they have not had to suffer through the constant changes in the company and the loss of wages. The turnover rate here used to be great. Heck, I used to love my job. Now it is just a job that I need. I do not enjoy it like I used to. I have been here for 5 years and each year I have made less money then the first. We no longer get yearly bonuses due to the fat cats funning the company making bad business decisions. They are still living it up while all the peons like myself suffer. Basically at this company you are just a number not a person.
Advice to Senior Management
Whenever a change is made, come up with a well thought out plan on how to implement it. Think of how it affects everyone in the company not just the bottome line. Stop being selfish and stop asking your employees to do something you would not or could not do.
Pros
Benefits are good and the people want to succeed.
Cons
High stress, Sr. management not on the same page. Too many initiatives with little focus on what really counts. Good people keep getting let go and we don't know why. Cox AZ has so much to be proud of and I think we are misled from the Sr. Team.
Advice to Senior Management
You are not as good as you think you are.
Pros
Great time off package; But there is so much drama you need it!
Cons
No clear company direction that leaves you feeling like you are in a race and your car is bound to ultimately lose.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop changing your mind on direction / commits / compensation.
Pros
The benefits and opportunities. Good Training classes though the instructors are mediocre at best.
Cons
Politics within leadership. Lack of communication. Attitude of higher leadership levels to manager and TL levels.
Advice to Senior Management
You may want to take a good hard look at the director level personnel you currently have. You may also want to look at your HR department..... confidentiality is an issue.
