Great company to work for.

Senior Solutions Specialist (Current Employee)
Omaha, NE

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGood Pay
Great Benefits
Good people to work for
Some opportunities for advancement

ConsDepending on your position advancement can be limited to management opportunities more than anything else
Random Hours
No stable scheduling system

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more chances for personal growth on an individual level. Let employees have a life outside of work a little more rather than just worried about the business.

Initially was a good place to work

Human Resources (Current Employee)
San Diego, CA

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 10 years

ProsCox has good benefits, but the culture has changed over the past 5 years. New General Manager with focus on generating revenue -- not employees.

ConsNationwide workforce reduction with 1000's of employees losing their jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is too much work and not enough employees.

Great direct manager and benefits but hard to have confidence in HQ leadership

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Cox Communications

ProsGreat local camaraderie and commitment to local community at the regional level. Benefits are fantastic.

ConsNot sure what the vision or direction of the company is. There is a lot of rhetoric that comes out of HQ, but the actionable projects don't reflect the messaging. The lack of communication between departments on the HQ and regional levels is concerning.

A complete waste of my talent and time.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Las Vegas, NV

I worked at Cox Communications full-time for more than 5 years

ProsA paycheck every two weeks.

ConsCompany simply does not live up to the values they communicate to the public. In the end, it is all about the money and employees really don't mean much.

Advice to Senior ManagementRidiculously poor management - completely out of touch with front line employees and reality. Majority of managers are out for themselves only. In all the time I was there, management never created development plans or made a moves to help employees move up. Decent perks do not make up for the lack of communication, engagement and opportunities.

Technical Support Representative (Current Employee)
Gainesville, FL

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI love working for Cox because they really care about their employees. We have good benefits that include free cable, internet and phone not to mention the opportunity to make additional money in sales and contest. I've never worked for a better company than Cox when it comes to employees well being.

ConsThe pay isn't the best for the work but the benefits make up the difference.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease wages for the employees that keeps the customer loyal and satisfied. We are the backbone of the company and the first impression. We are the people that make the real difference in the customer's live and we should get paid what we're worth.

Pro-customer and pro-employee company with lots of opportunity

Manager Business Operations (Current Employee)
San Diego, CA

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat work/life balance, engaging/professional team, great growth opportunity and benefits (cable/low cost healthcare/pension), open-door policy

ConsCompensation, Centralization strategy on-going, No cable benefits outside foot-print

Advice to Senior ManagementFor long-term health of company we need to focus on reducing customer costs and creating long-term value (vs. short term campaign spend) thereby reducing transactions in support, marketing, advertisement and encouraging volatility. The company too often appears to follow business peers reducing differentiation and encouraging subscriber loss. Centralization may be a necessary evil but there could be a better way to centralize but remain remote.

Industry in peril

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 10 years

Prosgood benefits, involved with community

Consfew growth opportunities, not enough internal growth

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider staying the course if the wind shifts, sometimes it is necessary. Be more thorough; I have seen a lot of capital wasted on projects that were started and never properly managed. The spending seems rampant and without proper balance and checks, through all levels of management that I have interacted with.
