    Pros

They move you through training fast, and the benefits/discounts are great... but there is very little room for advancement later on.

    Cons

Long hours, the company is going through a 'standardization' process which is basically making the company feel like you may as well be working for Wal-Mart. They have no problem mandating overtime with little to no notice and the 'scorecard' grading system is completely unfair.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the systems be independent from one another, you're taking away everything that was great about cox when i first started! It used to have a 'small business' feel, and now its just corporate rhetoric and nobody really gives a sh*t about whats going on locally anymore. We were even told in a recent meeting by a member of upper management 'It's going to get much worse, before it gets better..." yet we're supposed to be "the most trusted provider.." to our customers? How can customers trust Cox if your own employees dont even trust you?

    Pros

Reduced bill on employee Cox accounts, good employees w/wealth of knowledge.

    Cons

Dealing with difficult customers, being restricted in some things we had to do, being bullied on phone sometimes by customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I agree with the posting in 2009. Cox seem liked a great place to work for initially. They had great benefits and an extended family type atmosphere. A decent work place for me, is mostly about liking the people I work for, and work with, because job roles themselves, change. If you work for their I.T. department, Cox Business, Design or MTC department, then your job is most likely secure, otherwise it is not.

    Cons

Because people do not feel secure in their jobs in other departments (more recently in the past 3 years), morale is low. There is less pride than there once was. If you don't work for their I.T., Cox Business, Design or MTC department, then you might as well move on to a different company after 2 years, to gain more working knowledge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage and provide more training opportunities to help DEVELOP employees. Afterall, employees are the legs/foundation that a company stands upon.

    Pros

Can practically make your way here. If you show initiative, you will move up. Good work environment and they tend to hire very friendly folks. Salaries are very good. People stay here because it's a good company.

    Cons

Tend to be "too nice" to some folks who are not qualified to hold positions. Need to let some people go instead of giving them chance after chance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Love the open door policy here to share concerns and successes. Some days will have challenges, however and please be open to listen to them. Just because there may be a problem does not make the person reporting it a "negative" employee. But, the current open door policy is very good.

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

love the flexibility and the people that I work with. The Local markets I believe is a better environment. compensation is good for the most part. Relaxed environment and will provide the tools to get the job done. Definitely there for you when a family crises come up. doesnt turn their back on you from what I can tell.

    Cons

Corp ATL is more of who you know then it is on how you perform. Once you are labeled, its hard to get away from it even when you work hard to change. if you dont have a mentor or some one in management to support you, you definitely will feel alone on the island.

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Cox is a very good company to work for. Although the culture has changed over the past several years this is a place where leadership values its employees and wants to do the best for the employees, business and the community. Cox is a good company with many good people.

    Cons

Promotional opportunities. Because this is a company with many long term employees it is relatively long wait for advancement opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for areas of growth to expand the business.
