I worked at Cox Communications full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The pay was great, the benefits were great, I got free internet, Full cable, extra bonuses like movie tickets etc.

    Cons

Such a stressful position where you listen to customers tell you how bad the company is you are working for and screaming in your ear, on top of having 6 quotas per call, you had to think about 2 million things to keep your job which caused a tense environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lighten up, and maybe hire more part time employees.

    I worked at Cox Communications

    Pros

Working from home was the best part of working with Cox. The company takes care of their employees with providing then with great health insurance and free cable tv.

    Cons

The supervisors are incompetent. All they do is sit and chat with each other. Asking them to help you with assisting a customer is like asking them for a raise. Not going to happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review and closely manage all the billing supervisors. The agents are only as good as the supervisors assigned to them.

    I worked at Cox Communications

    Pros

Cox is a progressive and culturally defined company whose leadership teams are empowered to do what's best for its customers and the company. Personal Health, Family, and Company is the company imperative.

From the corporate perspective Cox transitioned from a public to private company back in the early 2000's. Jim Robbins was second to none in his leadership and business acumen. Pat Esser replaced Mr. Robbins and subsequently has continued to lead by example and deliver the expected results

    Cons

Working with many different people bring many different personalities to the forefront when leading them. Taking the necessary time to develop and grow the staff to encourage the buy-in to the vision, mission, and goals of the company can take its toll. This is by means NO SLAP to Cox. It's LIFE and every company that has challenge when more than three people working creates the potential for cultural improvement leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Speaking from personal experience and having served two tours with Cox, my best advice to leadership is to encourage everybody "Check" their egos in at the door.
