COX is a very good Company to work for

    Business Leader (Current Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsCox is a very good company to work for. Although the culture has changed over the past several years this is a place where leadership values its employees and wants to do the best for the employees, business and the community. Cox is a good company with many good people.

ConsPromotional opportunities. Because this is a company with many long term employees it is relatively long wait for advancement opportunities.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook for areas of growth to expand the business.

    Great Company to work for!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    San Diego, CA

Prosgreat pay and excellent benefits, tuition assistance, good medical, and dental plans, good working environment, great people to work with. Really good opportunities if you are mobile, have a degree, and willing to relocate to another state.

ConsA lot of change is occurring currently so many people are having to relocate or find other work outside of CA. Culture is changing, used to be much more pro employee, still head and shoulders above most companies.
You WILL need a degree to advance so expect to have one or get one.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay close attention to your people as you transition them, especially leaders. Many are wearing too many hats and are overworked.

    Inbound Sales Rep

    Inbound Sales Representative (Former Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsGreat work culture, tons of perks and recognition. Decent pay as well. Overall fun place to work with good products.

ConsChanging team managers wasn't always fun. Some micro manage more than others. Vacation would often jeopardize you're commission if you weren't careful.

Advice to Senior ManagementBack your top stars more and don't let them fall victim to the "The customer is always wright" perspective because that is not always the case.

ProsGreat hours, benefits, fun people/atmosphere, promotes from within, you determine your monthly bonus no cap, the office has a full gym and cafeteria with chefs

ConsGets tiring being on the phone all day taking 60+ billing calls, even thoguh it is billing you do have a quota to meet, hard to get time off, schedule based off your numbers/goals,

Advice to Senior Managementunderstanding that not every call is going to perfect

Initially was a good place to work

    Human Resources (Current Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsCox has good benefits, but the culture has changed over the past 5 years. New General Manager with focus on generating revenue -- not employees.

ConsNationwide workforce reduction with 1000's of employees losing their jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is too much work and not enough employees.

Pro-customer and pro-employee company with lots of opportunity

    Manager Business Operations (Current Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsGreat work/life balance, engaging/professional team, great growth opportunity and benefits (cable/low cost healthcare/pension), open-door policy

ConsCompensation, Centralization strategy on-going, No cable benefits outside foot-print

Advice to Senior ManagementFor long-term health of company we need to focus on reducing customer costs and creating long-term value (vs. short term campaign spend) thereby reducing transactions in support, marketing, advertisement and encouraging volatility. The company too often appears to follow business peers reducing differentiation and encouraging subscriber loss. Centralization may be a necessary evil but there could be a better way to centralize but remain remote.

Very Good Compensation/Monotonous Day to Day
