I worked at Cox Communications full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and pay. Great vacation benefits.

    Cons

No support from immediate supervisor. Hired and worked there for three weeks. Got no direction or communication from my manager for the first two weeks. Boss was too busy to train, provide direction, or give any support. Third week, boss dumped several projects on me with no support or training. Basically was told how inept I was and what was I going to do to improve my skills. But not given any guidance on how to do so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire someone that you are truly not interested in helping the employee develop his / or her skills.

You should have hired from within, and found someone who had Cox experience if you were not willing to train them.

Cox used to be a great company, but now it's circling the drain.

I worked at Cox Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, time off, good work/life balance.

    Cons

After the sisters that owned the company passed away, management changed and the focus seemed to be do whatever is necessary to sell the company so the money from the sale could be split and given to the remaining heirs. At that point, upper management lost all concern for its employees. They just want to cash out with their golden parachutes, and leave the Cox employees to fend for themselves. Sad. Cox used to be a GREAT place to work! I don't think anyone could say that, now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to live up to your supposed goal of being the "Most Trusted Provider" by allowing your employees to trust you as their employer. I have lots of advice but I think management only cares about their own survival and cashing out if they can find somebody to purchase the company, in a world where subscriber-based cable TV is on the way out. Thank God you still have internet subscribers!

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are very nice, more paid time off than I can use easily, comped services, and good health care. There are also a lot of great employees.

    Cons

Rapid change right now, for the sake of change it seems. So much good talent and knowledge leaving that it is often hard to figure out how anything gets done.

I worked at Cox Communications full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, Some good leaders still remain. Had the ability to be part of a few really great things. There was a window of greatness where the company was shifting focus to the right things.

    Cons

No longer able to impact change at the local level. Now just a cog. Loosing focus, returning to the almighty and short term dollar.
Brown-nosing is valued over a strong track record and reputation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand who you are promoting, how do they get their results. It should never be on the backs of the employees in their organization. There is a "good ol' girls" club.

I worked at Cox Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Back 2007-2009 Cox was a family company

    Cons

They work you like a dog. If you ever want to take back a previous job expect the starting salary. Tenure means nothing. All I asked for after 7 years was a consistent schedule. I exceeded goals made MVP and many other awards but at the end of the day it never got me the schedule I wanted or the money I think I was worth. They need a union

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow union into your business. Allow tenure to mean more especially for the ones still exceeding your expectations. Tell the truth when you lay off 200 employees in Kansas. You lost me forever as an employee and a customer.
