A large french banks with good fundamentals

    Commercial Banker (Current Employee)
    Paris (France)

ProsNice people - which goes a long way - solid company where large provisions are a thing of the past (I hope). The culture is one of consensus which ensures a mellow atmosphere compared to other banks.

ConsNot a lot of entrepreneurship - a very "French" Bank with no great ambitions abroad. They got burned by past acquisitions (Greece in particuar) only to get out with heavy provisions. Hopefully a time of the past.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in the international network.

ProsGood people, I was given a lot of opportunities to take initiatives at a very early stage, overall a great learning environment.

ConsVery French environment for an investment bank. Long hours, little flexibility regarding hours. Lack of cooperation between teams, and sometimes a bit of an everybody for himself environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementShould foster a culture of cooperation and send out more positive messages to employees.

5 stars as my first banking job

    Credit Analyst (Former Employee)
    Paris (France)

ProsFull biz line, strong in export/project finance.
Strong relationship with France based conglomerates.
Willing to give opportunities to young ppl, to foreign students.
Lunch is good and cheap, lol

ConsFrench culture which can shock Anglo-saxxon or oriental employees.
    Hierarchic, sometimes bureaucratic
Too quiet, in term of working atmosphere...
    3-tier bank world-wide
    Lack of liquidity

Advice to Senior ManagementFrench are too arrogant to listen, lol!

    Very professional team

    Auxiliaire Vacances (Former Employee)
    Angoulême (France)

ProsI've only spend a summer in one the bank's agencies in France, and they are truly professional and extremely competent - they know the product and do everything they can to help the customer (and not try to sell him a contract which wouldn't be at his advantage). Very good atmosphere in the workplace as well.

ConsWorking in a bank, you get customers - and sometimes that implies having to deal with people who are somewhat strange or unpleasant. But then you also get to meet great customers as well and great colleagues.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't believe I have any.

Great experience in terms of pure work, but terrible colleagues/atmosphere!

    Investment Banker (Former Employee)
    Angers (France)

ProsOpen doors to your career. Develop your network within the company and with customers (CEO/CFO). Amazing individuals in terms of knowledge and experience. All the pros linked to health care, discount for everything and anything, paid vacation...

ConsYour colleagues will make sure your life is a nightmare. They smile up front and kill you when you're gone. They think everything is terrible and you are nothing, especially you because you are new.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't let your seniors think they are the best.
