You must start at the bottom to work your way to the top (management).

    Pros

    - You can learn the basics and more of customer service, by working here. - At the time of this post, they have a fine management team, that they have been developing for some time. The are competent, kind, they care about you and your well being, and they also will not put up with laziness. They'll teach you how to stand on your own two feet, and help you make things happen for you. -Some truly good people work there. At the time of this post, theres one for every shift that i attend. Learn from those people, learn how they balance taking care of themselves, the guests, their duties, and their coworkers.

    Cons

    - In fighting is present all the time, you have to be able to do your job some days listening to your customers complaints, and having to hear the nastiness that happens in the back. Its not always there, but just know when it is there, its heavy. - Server duties are just like they are everywhere else: the guest first, your sidework second. Learn how to take care of both so you can get out at a decent time. Also learn how to be able to tell somebody off for not taking care of the guests when their doing sidework or goofing off. You have to be able to speak up to be able to survive.

    Advice to Management

I'd love to find a way to get more Lebanon to give us another manager, because we need it. Just don't forget that you all were us, once upon a time.

    Pros

The barrel is a great place to work. Mangers are nice and helpful when asked. Pay raises are good, as well as the ability to get time off when needed.

    Cons

The hardest part is trying to get close to 40hrs a week of work. Avg is 25-30. Other wise easy place to work.

    Advice to Management

Allow the host to do their job unless they ask for help, other wise just keep up the good work.

    Pros

At the store i was at, the managers were amazing and they were very caring. The job had great benefits for people who wanted to work their way up. Career advancements were there for those who wanted them. Our store GM started out as a dishwasher for Cracker Barrel. Management was willing to work with you. kinda felt bad about leaving such great people.

    Cons

As a cashier the job was not very challenging. It was also very repetitious. Get some great shoes cause your feet will start hurting after a while.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

    Pros

Respectful company and work environment with helpful and effective managers. Clear duties and instructions. They are also always looking for people to complete management training if you are interested in restaurant management.

    Cons

The only complaints that I have is inconsistent scheduling, which is typical in a restaurant environment, and the low pay.

    Advice to Management

The managers are very good and if they aren't then they don't last very long. They are very fair and judicial when dealing with employees and guests.

    Pros

When I was a server at the Cracker Barrel, I rarely made less than $10 an hour in tips, plus the $2.83 hourly base pay. Shifts went by quickly, and the customer turn-around was very quick. I rarely felt overwhelmed, as each server allowed a very manageable number of tables.

    Cons

At times I felt the management was incompetent, and that the store would be better run by someone who has worked there a long time, rather than managers who undergo training for that position only.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Chances are they have been working there longer than you, and know what they are talking about.
