I have been working at Cracker Barrel

    Pros

The money is good as long as you work full time, the guest do tip well.

    Cons

The management can't make decisions together, they allow a hostile work environment, they'll hire anyone and trainers and etc will sign off on people who never should of been a server, when you tell them something is wrong or another employee has done something they ignore it! Management at the Sharon rd barrel is texting and seeing one of the servers outside of work and hired her back after being fired for constantly being an hour to two hours late for work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees more, make sure their environment is a positive one, keep your head out of the women's butts , don't treat people differently, the experience after working there two years is I would never go back or recommend the job to anyone!

I have been working at Cracker Barrel

    Pros

Flexible schedule for hourly employees. Good pay for management. Believe to giving compliments more than counseling.

    Cons

60 hour plus weeks for managers. Hourly employees are valued more than management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the company the way it is

    Pros

    -Great coworkers
-The intent of the company is great
-Most people eating are nice regulars

    Cons

    -Silverware
-Sometimes it will get really slow all day
    -Income flucuates

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't work the servers crazy schedules, and don't make servers work harder to make up lack of work from other positions in the store.

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The company is 100% cut-and-dry, by-the-book style management. A solution to every possible situation is in a training manual somewhere. Everything is organized beyond perfection.
It's a good first job, as the entire mindset of the company is pleasing the guest, which is a necessary value in any kind of work.

    Cons

They start you at minimum wage, and you have about 4 scheduled points in your career where you may receive a raise, each one totaling no more than a quarter at most, and often it's more close to a dime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the nicest food service workers are employed at Cracker Barrel, they deserve more than $3 an hour before tips after years of devoted work.

I have been working at Cracker Barrel

    Pros

    Quick first raise
    Consistent scheduling
I'm actually trying to think of more pros isn't that sad

    Cons

Managers treat you as a lesser being
Constant indirect belittling, such as telling me a recipe before I even ask as I walk by
No cursing? In a kitchen really?
No free meal. Ever. Ever. Even on holidays
Stingy hours never had over 20
Having to get "walked out" by a manager, literally, and this is coming from my manager, "so nothing walks out the door with us"
Was given 3 days of training on morning shift then thrown into night shift when I started
    NO DIRECT DEPOSIT
Prep list and who knows what else is 80% wrong 80% of the time
Too many chiefs, not enough Indians
Regularly see managers standing around talking or walking around trying to look busy at 7pm

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please act like we know what we're doing. That's why you hired us. Don't tell me a recipe when I walk by while you're standing there drinking coffee
Don't give promotions to the ones that take 20 minutes to fry chicken tenders, and threaten to fire the one who picks up the slack after them for not getting "walked out"
