I worked at Cracker Barrel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good atmosphere to work in, with descent management, and benefits. A very organized place, with good prices, with options for advancement.

    Cons

Can be overstaffed on busy days, therefore sections can be very small. Overall, mostly a good place to work

    Advice to Management

Try not to play favorites with employees

I worked at Cracker Barrel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

For a Family restaurant the pay was a little bit above average. I grew to like my coworkers more than the actual job which kept me there a little bit longer.

    Cons

Management was very shady there were only a couple managers that actually cared about you personally everybody else was a back stabber. Just go and do your job get your money and leave that's my advice

    Advice to Management

Be truthful! Don't throw your employees under the bus especially if it's not their fault and more of a management problem

    Pros

They offer great pay and great incentives to do well. They expect a lot but they give a lot at the same time.

    Cons

Misleading direction from District Manager / Home Office. They say one thing this week and another thing the following week and make you look like the idiot.

    Advice to Management

    Be on the same page.

I have been working at Cracker Barrel part-time

    Pros

Great atmosphere friendly workers and guests. Management is great. the closest I've ever worked with in the food industry. they focus in on the employees to ensure they are doing their very best.

    Cons

It is sometimes difficult dealing with preferences of the older generation Cracker Barrel markets to specifically. If you have good people skills this job is a walk in the park as long as you're willing to work with a team

    Pros

If you are a restaurant manager or interested in becoming a restaurant manager, CB is a great place to work. They have an excellent training program that promotes growth. The starting salary is comparable to industry standards, but the opportunity for advancement is extremely progressive. It is not unrealistic for an Associate to obtain GM status within 2-4 years, but that promotion is entirely self-driven.

    Cons

Long 10+ hour days five days a week without any consistency in shifts. You may open one day, close the next and work mid the third. And of course, all holidays. But, that is the restaurant business.

I have been working at Cracker Barrel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get a nice discount on things in retail, and meals when you're off the clock. On the clock, you get a 50% on meals one time each shift. Also very flexible with times that you ask off as long as you do it a week in advance.

    Cons

HORRIBLE about getting you off close to the time you're scheduled off. They do not care. I was scheduled a 12 shift (which is ridiculous anyway) and they made me stay 14 hours when they weren't even busy. They also only gave me one 15 minute break that whole day. Management is also very bad at picking favorites.

    Advice to Management

Don't stand in the way, and actually contribute into making a successful work place.
