    Pros

Customers for wait staff, and with a job well done, will always be the heart of happiness at this position in this company.

    Cons

Management lacks a great deal of experience, particularly where I worked in London, KY. Not only that but they show favoritism and partiality to some employees and were a part of a great deal of unfair treatment for those doing the jobs of management's other "pets". Much too unprofessional. And though the restaurant showed clean to what the customers saw, management left a lot to be desired in what is not seen by all and taking command as management should for a well run ship. Management was much too busy doing non-managerial duties and too much that needed attention was terribly missed.

    Advice to Management

Management should be more hands on with the activities and actions of it's wait staff. Management should be able to have time to delegate job duties that would leave them in the management position and not the "fill in positions" that causes them to be ineffective as managers. If CB officials are paying attention, following is the business definition London, KY management is unfamiliar with: Definition: A Manager is the person responsible for planning and directing the work of a group of individuals, monitoring their work, and taking corrective action when necessary.

    Pros

Decent when it come to working with your availability. Coworkers can be fun to work with at times.

    Cons

Terrible management. They treat you like anything but humans. Worked 12 hours straight on black Friday without being offered a break. Not even a 10 minute

    Advice to Management

Offer breaks, checkup on servers/host individually every once in awhile. Very stressful working at a popular food chain

    Extremely corporate

    Advice to Management

Don't eat your manager meals in the dining room!

    Pros

High pay and bonus with some good benefits and strong performance in the stock market. Most of the employees are great people.

    Cons

Not much managing, all working in positions. Horrible in store training program that taught me nothing other than how to cook. No administrative training. Never worked anywhere before this that had such an issue with call offs and no shows.

    Advice to Management

Stop using managers to save labor and pinch pennies. Have enough manpower to handle the business and to cover breaks without leaving the restaurant short handed.

    Pros

    Great tips
    Majority of managers are helpful
    Build a few regulars
    Meeting people from all over
    Coworkers are usually helpful
Able to transfer between school location and home location
Training is easy and it helps for first time servers

    Cons

    Uniform
    Long hours
    Double shifts
Not checking availability to correspond to my needs
    No "true" breaks
Closing the night before and opening the next
    Side work/ silverware

    Advice to Management

When a ticket is more than 12 minutes, please go or already have been by the table. I look like an idiot when I keep checking on them when there's no food present and my only response is, "it'll be out shortly."

If you're gonna offer a free milkshake, please follow up on that. Free is good.

Threatening to take away my tables is not gonna make me work harder.

    Pros

Paid vacations starting your first year, go up to two after five years. A 401k plan with contributions matched .25/1$ up to 6% of your salary.

    Cons

401k options for mutual funds are not stellar. The music is degrading and corporate constantly seeks blood-from-the-stone type savings rather than investing in new technology to improve efficiency.

    Advice to Management

Employee meetings wherein the content appears directed to children demoralizes your best people. Your kitchen staff is not paid enough, if for no other reason than the temperature they endure for up to 11 hours at a time. Your target audience is a fading demographic.

  10. Summertime is awful

I have been working at Cracker Barrel part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-You can make decent pay during football season
-Christmas day off and paid for
-Week's paid vacation after one year

    Cons

    -Drama that isn't dealt with
-Outdated uniforms. Jeans would go better with the country store theme.
    -Hours cut during summer
-Management is not consistent on rules

    Advice to Management

Be consistent on enforcing the rules. If one of you enforces it, you all should.
Step in and stop the drama.
Cut the floor when there isn't a need for that many servers.

    Pros

Everyone truly cares about the company and the brand. It's more than just coming into work each day. They really take "pleasing people" serious and treat the employees just as well - happy employees want to work!

    Cons

You get a discount at the restaurant and store - so when you go out to eat, it just makes sense to save some money and eat there! Also, the store has so many great products that you justify buying everything because you're getting a discount!
