    Pros

Smart People. Interesting technology, interesting work, Beautiful campus. Interesting customer's with challenging problems to solve

    Cons

Corporate management is cold, ruthless unimaginative and not very intelligent . They are not disconnected or unaware of what they are doing, they are completely aware of their actions and the misery they create for employees-they just don't care as long as they can enrich themselves. When an opportunity to enrich the management or shareholders at the expense of the employees-they always choose to do so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The tactics they use such as eliminating raises even though the company is profitable will work while the economy is bad but there will be a a mass exodus when the economy improves.

    Pros

Most of the people are very nice and the pay is decent

    Cons

Management like a lot of corporate America only care about themselves and not the people who make them look good. The put on a wage delay or possible freeze this year, but not before bonuses where given to management.

    Pros

Lots of nice people. Interesting products. Opportunities to solve technical problems and work with customers. 9/80 work schedule. Education reimbursement and conferences. Highly ethical company. Kaizens. Nice campus. Feels like a small company not a gigantic global corporation.

Hi-Rel Power is our core business.

I'm really enjoying my time at Crane Co.

    Cons

Most of the mean and cranky people have decided to leave to leave the company and it is nice not having to hear them constantly complain about things that are out of their control. I'm just being honest. That's how they made me feel, I'll miss them but things are better without the constant "me first" attitudes. I'm not judging their behavior but I'm glad they are gone and wish them the best.

    Pros

    Feature ownership creates learning opportunities
Managers are supportive of salaried employees

    Cons

Corporate shows no interest in retention
Conservative staffing leads to frequent periods of overworked salaried employees
Legacy projects do not develop modern skills for your skill set

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in employees to reduce the cycle of bright young employees leaving and only those near retirement staying on. There will be problems in the next 10 years when the old guard has retired but the new one is not staying long.

    Pros

    -Hard working employees
-9/80 Schedule - every other Friday off
-Small size - Lots of opportunities to get hands dirty in every aspect of the business
    Flexible work hours
-Products are literally life changing (Electronics Group)

    Cons

    - Work load & expectations vary by solution and boss
    - Off Friday's can be expected work days depending who you work for
    - Lacking development for the increasing young engineer population - Eng 1 v Eng 4 has similar expectations with no official training/on-boarding
    - Technology / Equipment is 15-30 years old

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get on the floor. Understand the highly regulated industry we are in . Spend the money to get back to basics and invest in the entire business. Allow the team to make it ugly without fearing repercussions.

    Pros

Every other Friday off. People are nice.

    Cons

Turnover is incredibly high. 4 Engineering Managers in 2012! Compensation is getting better but the salaries are lower than market. Salaries are determined by corporate and handcuffs the local office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be communication within leadership and set some structure so that there is a system of accountability.

    Pros

you will learn a lot of skills like lean manufacturing and strategy deployment even though they do not use it correctly.

    Cons

Expected to work long hours with out any thanks or appreciation.
    Abusive tyrannical senior management
Staff at the director level offer little to no guidance or assistance, just lots or scolding.
Salaries are well below fair market value and the bonus structure has impossible targets to meet
The senior management is not measured to the same targets they set for the plants which ensures they are bonus-ed.
A system is in place to develop talent from with in, the system isn't followed through with and they will not spend money on higher education.
The medical insurance has been significantly scaled back and dumps the costs on the backs of the employees.
Old technology that people are moving away from resulting in continuous layoffs and shrinking markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Live up to RT Crane's resolution don't just spout it off at every meeting and pretend to believe it, we all can see through it. Also start leading by example.

    Pros

Potential for learning new things. I said potential. It doesn't mean they will let you learn them.

    Cons

    Communication is nil.
Expect to work long hours and get low pay.
    No positive feedback
    Plenty of negative feedback.
They treat you like some peon robot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
