    Do NOT work here

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Arlington, VA

ProsVery laid back work environment, but it is due to the fact that the CEO does not care.

ConsVery unsupportive CEO and poor leadership skills. Does not allow his upper management team to do their jobs and it has reflected poor on the entire company. It has lead to a very toxic work environment, and unmotivated team. They give promotions and title changes but will not give you the financial compensation that is deserved with the promotions.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe CEO needs to reorganize his department heads and let them do their job. I feel like this will allow for a better flow of business. He does not need to over involve himself in each department and focus on the important matters of business; instead of checking invoices, he should leave it to his accounting department.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great experience, but no loyalty to employees offsite

    Technical Writer (Former Employee)

ProsThe people are great and management is unobtrusive. There was a VP on our team and he did not let his VP duties intrude on the team at all. The PMPs actually understood project management, which has not been the case everywhere I have worked..

ConsIt seemed like our project wasn't taken seriously - partially because it wasn't related to DHS, and partly because no one at HQ ever thought of us as co-workers.

Advice to Senior ManagementShare the excitement with the employees working on the smaller projects. Also, try to be a little softer when the layoffs come - the HR person who did my exit interview was openly irritated that the company had to give me severance pay, since I had passed the 1 year mark the same month I was laid off.

    Ok for just starting out...

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Arlington, VA

ProsWould recommend for entry-level to gain experience or very senior-level employees
Most of my former coworkers were very supportive
    Enjoyed the work environment

ConsI did not see much growth for entry-level professionals
I was promised a specific salary range increase at a certain period by HR, that never came to fruition, even after speaking with my manager and the HR rep.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo more to encourage entry-level professional growth
Hold HR responsible for any promises made to get employees in the door

    OK for a 1st job, but wouldn't recommend a long-term career

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Arlington, VA

ProsConvenient location in Arlington, VA (Ballston) on metro line and near shops and restaurants. Coworkers and management were friendly. This was my first job out of college and was a pretty good first experience as a resume builder.

ConsGrowth was slow compared to other companies I've worked with. There weren't any mentoring initiatives or internal guidance for entry-level employees. I was promised an out of cycle raise within 60-90 days of my hire date, which even after communicating to HR and management, never occurred.

Advice to Senior ManagementImplement initiatives to retain new/entry-level employees and keep your promises!
