    Associate (Current Employee)

ProsGood office location, selected teams are very smart. Competitive comp. Good exit opps.

ConsNot sure how different it is from other banks but a general mercenary sense, lack of loyalty. Office facilities are pretty antiquated.

Not the sexiest job, but a good job for sure

    Banking Operation Specialist (Current Employee)
    Raleigh, NC

    Pros- Decent benefits
    - young workplace environment (mostly everyone I work with in their mid-20's) which is less intimidating for a recent college grad like myself. From what I can tell, your enjoyment of your job at CS completely depends on the team you are assigned to. My team is very sociable and always talking, making work much more bearable. I see other teams in the office that don't seem to talk... ever. I don't imagine I could work on a team like that for very long.
    - learning opportunities

Cons-inconsistent hours. you never know when you're going to end up working until 7 and/or later.
    -some weekend work
-Some managers (not all) seem like they don't want to be bothered by the "analysts" and their problems

Advice to Senior Management-eliminate weekend work
-have some formal "crash course" on the investment banking industry seeing as a number of people hired straight out of college don't have the slightest idea of what the bank does.

    Technical Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsGood people to work with. doing some interesting stuff. Office timings are pretty relaxing.

Consthe compensation sucks. they are pretty much paying the minimum wage according to the finance industry standards.
is not a flat organization, takes time to get stuff done

Advice to Senior Managementplease look outside the window and don't consider freshers worthless

Big corporation with a lot of opportunities

    Project Manager IT (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsAcceptable work-life balance, decent opportunities for training and career growth for people out of school. Flexible remote working arrangements are allowed. Benefits are in line with other big investment banks. Supportive of employees post-graduate plans.

ConsAnnual budgets fluctuate and projects can be canned mid-way depending on ever changing business needs.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease team building exercises and activities.

High turnover - standard technology. Over promise and under deliver

    Trader (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsThey want to grow, and are willing to pay decently for your 1st year

ConsThey have very little patience- one down year and you are out. They also have very high aspirations, but when things get tough, they just bail. I saw this multiple times.

Advice to Senior ManagementVery little communication between the higher ups and the mid level producers. This lack of a human touch, while it should not be necessary, actually is. Traders are people too, and they perform better when they don't think you are scheming behind their back to replace them.

All trader both make and lose money. When you are making at CS, its all good. When you are losing, they seem to make no effort to help you get back on track...and the environment becomes poisonous. There seemed to be no effort to help the mid to senior level traders improve...everybody seemed to be on their own. While that might be a way to eventually find good traders....it is possible to help your traders become better...but you have got to make the effort..and CS did not.

    Great Company, Great People

    IT Vice President (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsA great place to work, positive can do attitude that fosters collaboration. They practice what they preach in term of treating people with respect and as a result, people from diverse backgrounds enjoy success at the company. Their graduate program is also very good.

ConsWhile a great company, the red tape can be at times very frustrating. It takes a while to get people through the hiring process particularly when it is close to the end of year. The best time to join CS in my opinion is February or March, when recruitment budgets are open.

Advice to Senior ManagementCut the red tape
