Pros
salary, global reach, opportunity to move, global projects
Cons
need more challenging work esp for the hi talent list employees
Advice to Senior Management
more communication, talking to employyes even from the bottom of hierarchy, less boss management, less beaurocracy and less matrix structure...single reporting lines...
Pros
The people are great and extremely competent. The senior management is always keen to new ideas and appreciate bold employees who may question status quo (within reason of course).
Cons
The working hours can be long within Product Control. A higher compensation would be fitting.
From employees working out of Singapore, the impending move to Changi is a major disadvantage in terms of inconvenience in commuting,
Advice to Senior Management
An improved employee welfare package.
Its good to spoil your employees once in a while for their hardwork and toil. But regardless of that, I would get back to working with Credit Suisse any day. Great people, great environment to learn!
Pros
The people are amazing and the culture is like no other. I had a great time at the firm, and most people strike a reasonable work-life balance.
Cons
Banking in general has terrible hours, so it's not Credit Suisse's fault, but as an industry, it needs improvement, in my opinion.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more analysts to relieve some of the stress on workers.
Pros
Bright employees, although they still have a lot of employers with old school mentality.
Good atmosphere to work in.
Managers are really approachable.
Cons
No cross or rotational training.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase rotational training between different areas.
Pros
Long lunch hours, good work life balance (knock off on time)
Cons
If any, it will be due to own problem. Credit Suisse pays well and ensure employees enjoy lunch and knock off on time
Advice to Senior Management
Mingle more with non management staff
Pros
average pay, good benefits, good retirement contributions, good work environment
Cons
limited opportunities, politics, silo environment, support is bueracretic
Advice to Senior Management
remove silo environment to make things more efficiently. waste too much money of support teams where consolidation can be helpful
Pros
great resources to learn, including web learning, small-group trainings, conferences. we have ice-cream socials, etc.
Cons
being an analyst sometimes means doing a lot of manual work, although Credit Suisse has done the best to lift that load away, for eg, we have assistants to help with admin, DTP department to help with editing PPT, library department to help with newsrun, and translation team
Advice to Senior Management
being a big bank, we may need more interaction with mgt
Pros
Good work atmosphere, nice colleagues, good work life balance.
Cons
Some of the senior management is terrible, they hire a lot of second rate folks from Goldman in a effort to be number one in the business. Better to promote from within and develop the people.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people internally instead of constantly looking to hire second rate folks from Goldman
Pros
- big enough and respectable enough platform to get a decent training
- pay is probably inline with the street
- ok dealflow on the banking side to get exposure to but not awesome
Cons
- highly political. You'll need connections in new york headquarters to make it
- it is a sweatshop, you will be exploited for a while until you go somewhere else or move up the ranks
- backstubbing and front stubbing is very common. If you have enough pull with seniors, you can whate er you want to whoever you want
- senior management often turns a blind eye to internal issues
Advice to Senior Management
- cut the formal town halls etc and try to implement at least a remote form of meritocracy
Pros
Depends what division you work in. If you work with financial products and the trading desk, it's a good ole boys club. If you support systems, it's much more inclusive.
The pay was excellent with great bonuses. I really liked how they conducted reviews and gave ample constructive feedback. They promoted a fantastic work life balance with different "fun" events to facilitate networking and relaxing during the long work day.
Cons
Incompetent managers. Seriously. I knew more than my direct supervisor and he would constently belittle me and keep me late to work on a project while he tried to figure out how to do the job.
The expectation that you stay late even if your work is done but your manager is still there.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the people doing the grunt work. They see the problems better than you do.
