Great program

Intern (Former Employee)
London, England (UK)

I worked at Credit Suisse as an intern for less than a year

Pros1 week of interesting training, working with smart people, direct contact with live deals. You receive some responsibility even though you are just an intern

ConsBig differences in work-culture between the several departments inside investment banking, but generally nice people

Advice to Senior ManagementSeparate investment banking internships and global markets internships

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good history, but in decline as best are rapidly leaving

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time for more than 3 years

ProsStill has some good 'old school' high calibre people, still very strong/top tier in specific areas of IBD and capital markets. Still offers good exit opps.

ConsBest people are rapidly leaving the firm, no longer as good as it was in a number of areas, is falling down the ranks. Swiss regulatory issues don't help either.

Advice to Senior ManagementSeems like there is too much change in strategy at too high a frequency.

Experience I will cherish

Assistant Vice President (Former Employee)
London, England (UK)

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time for more than a year

ProsGood Technology, great people , good learning opportunities throughout your career in CS. Learning is always encouraged. Good appraisal system.

ConsOverall Salary package could be better. Although it reflects the current market scenario so not sure how others were paying in those days.

Not a pro-active and dynamic place to work

Executive Director (Former Employee)
London, England (UK)

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time for more than a year

ProsVery few! I guess they have a stable capital base from the private banking side.

ConsBloated, inefficient and sub-optimal institution

Tough but rewarding

Investment Banking Vice-President (Former Employee)
London, England (UK)

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time for more than 3 years

ProsWell renumerated and I gained a great deal of experience in a fast paced high pressure enviroment.
Good place to gain exposure to many aspects of the business

ConsThe working culture can be a bit brutal where personal survival and neopotism seems to trump the greater goals of the business
Long long hours

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow the teams to do what they do best, cut a few people from the top. You have a very talented pool of staff if you would just let them work.

Great place to work

IT Director (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time for more than a year

ProsHuge focus on people. Career development, mobility, flexible working and diversity are all at the top of the firm's agenda.

ConsTangible cultural differences between the traditional Private Banking Business and more recent Investment Banking business. Lack of agility due to overly restrictive process.

Advice to Senior ManagementEnsure regional consistency and cultural change.

Change, change and cutsand more cuts

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time

ProsStill an interesting place to work.

ConsConstant change and massive cuts still ongoing.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealise that there are some limits to the cuts that can be put in place if we are still to be the "most admired bank".

– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
