Pros
Benefits and the People. Work hours are ok
Cons
IT technology is very outdated
Senior management needs to stop giving surveys and actually show some results from previous surveys
Advice to Senior Management
Practive what you preach.
Pros
CS is a Bulge Bracket firm.
Cons
Management could work to better communicate.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on better communication skills
Pros
Good work atmosphere, nice colleagues, good work life balance.
Cons
Some of the senior management is terrible, they hire a lot of second rate folks from Goldman in a effort to be number one in the business. Better to promote from within and develop the people.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people internally instead of constantly looking to hire second rate folks from Goldman
Pros
average pay, good benefits, good retirement contributions, good work environment
Cons
limited opportunities, politics, silo environment, support is bueracretic
Advice to Senior Management
remove silo environment to make things more efficiently. waste too much money of support teams where consolidation can be helpful
Pros
Easy to have internal transfers. Lots of training available - if you have time to take them its worth it.
Cons
Too much politics. Unfair treatment.
If you are soft spoken and straight forward, this is not a place for you. Seen often times, managers with abusive manners get promoted. It all boils down to who you know. I have seen excellent talents leaving this place due to lack of recognition.
Promotions are very strange - Last year, Project Managers, who did terrible project mgmt , got promoted as Program Managers, managing Project Managers.
Terrible work life balance - sometimes 80 hour weeks - not worth it.
PS - AVOID Program Services in IT - worst management; rude behavior; offensive language.
Advice to Senior Management
Identify talents internally and promote them. Promotions should be purely based on performance. Compensate best performers instead of losing them.
Pros
*can learn a lot about corporate finance
Cons
*lack of cohesive firm wide culture
*employees not welcoming of newcomers
*no respect for work/life balance
Advice to Senior Management
treat your employees better and you might have a better chance at being a leading investment bank
Pros
Lots of online learning opportunities, some very talented and motivated people. Opportunities to participate in community events
Cons
poor investment in technology, inefficient systems and tools
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your people - and ensure they have what they need to succeed in their daily work
Pros
Not as structured / hierarchical allowing you take on additional responsibilities if you want
Leaderships franchises in certain areas, especially Financial Sponsors, leveraged finance, high yield capital markets, M&A and fixed income sales and trading
Cons
Quality of personnel is very mixed. No concept of a 360-degree feedback / review system allows senior folks off the hook for bad behaviour. Very often, there is little accountability since each MD operates within their own silo rather than thinking about the group and company as a whole
Advice to Senior Management
Spend more time developing junior teams
Pros
Great location; good systems; young professionals (mainly from Ivy League Schools)
Cons
No support from co-workers, management; HR is the worst!; small rewards for hard work
Pros
Compensation is good relative to other jobs, although not top-tier compared to the rest of the Street.
Bule bracket bank with pretty good name recognition.
Cons
Very difficult work life balance. Vacation time is strongly discouraged. 7 day work weeks. Senior management disconnected from rest of employees.
Advice to Senior Management
More group morale communication building activities. Team building. More 360 degree reviews at least twice a year. Further lateral opportunities.
