I have been working at Creighton University part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

People can be great, depending on what department, school, college or division you work in.

    Cons

Too much variation in management style from place to place. Top-heavy - there are at least 100 kinds of provost, vice-presidents and executive directors. Ego is unavoidable, evidenced by a private bathroom for a VP, an executive director who claims to need three offices, deans who want Macs for clerical staff when Windows boxes would be have the cost, and so-called revenue producers who use corporate credit cards to get around policy. To be clear, nothing at all sketchy in a criminal sense. Just human nature running to petty excess, like leaks you decide to live with rather than fix.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't give money to Creighton because I won't see it wasted by under managed, competing, scheming, upper academic & business managers. Best advice: study how George C. Marshall managed his generals in WW2. Go and do likewise.

I have been working at Creighton University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Good coworkers.
Good benefits, especially health care and tuition remission for self and family members.
Able to take classes for a nominal fee.
Able to attend Mass, bible study, and spiritual direction.
    Opportunities for employee/career development.

    Cons

Salaries are a bit lower than other places.
Workplace satisfaction varies depending on department, school, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep communicating with employees; they are interested in what is going on in the institution, and prefer to find out from management rather than the news media.

I have been working at Creighton University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not too intense or competitive, focused on a family like environment, utilizing team work and efficiency through working smart rather than hard.

    Cons

Once people get a job here they stay for a long period of time so it may be difficult to move up, but tuition reimbursement program allows for one to gain more training and greater potential future payoff as well as a great amount of current value.

I have been working at Creighton University full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Close community where people know and care about each other.
Everyone seems to have a sense of purpose and are willing to throw in to make things work
Family friendly work space where managers and co-workers understand that family some times have to come first.
    Benefits are ok

    Cons

Big changes across campus have really dampened spirits
Long time employees of the university have been fired giving the sense that there is a lack of loyalty
growing divide between faculty and staff and between departments and divisions as money and budget play a larger roll in determining the future direction of the university.

I worked at Creighton University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get 1000/month for working 10 hours a week.
You also get compensated for 9 credit hours per year.
(These numbers could change by year, but you always get at least 6 credit hours paid for, and at least 500/month. It just depends on how many GRAs there are that year and how much money they have budgeted)
You get to set your own schedule with the professor that you are an assistant for.

    Cons

You don't always have work to do.... I guess this can be a Pro depending on how you look at it.
    Really there are no cons.
