Pros
Good place to work if you want to stay for the duration
Cons
Have to put in a lot of years to get promotion
Pros
Easy sell for recruiters. Drivers they care about so it is not hard for recruiters to recruit.
Cons
Office staff have no opportunity for advancement, they keep lowering pay not raising it, and if they can find a way to take money out of office staff's pocket and put it back into the company they will and do. Raise freezes for 3 years. Unprotected territories. Turf wars between satellite companies (Shaffer Trucking and Hunt Transportation) and Crete corporate.
Advice to Senior Management
You can't tell them anything. They already know it all.
Pros
Pay is pretty decent to start.
Cons
Poor communication between upper management and employees. No consistency in how people are trained. Expectations are not clear.
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication.
Pros
its a job. they have a couple good mgrs and a couple decent dispatchers. if you want to take it easy and not drive alot its great and a good stepping stone
Cons
rude dispatchers. wait forever to get a load or an answer on the qualcomm. sitting ALOT! Cant get a raise. Fight for everything.
Advice to Senior Management
LISTEN TO YPUR DRIVERS AND STOP LETTING YOUR DISPATCHERS BULLY YOUR DRIVERS. PROVOKING THEM
Pros
Good miles but hard to get home.
Cons
Not a lot of home time. No holidays off except Christmas day.
Advice to Senior Management
U go home y can't drivers?
Pros
better pay then most, the truckes are ok, u can drop your trl and bob tail , $1000 for recruiting a new driver
Cons
no miles no inverters will be installed in your truck must take sleep test dispatch will pressure u to take loads u cant do
Advice to Senior Management
need more night dispatch pay hub miles change your off time policy let the driver pick where he fuels at
Pros
I liked the people, other drivers would help each other out.
Cons
Keep cutting pay if you wanted less time out on the road. Hard to have a home life when you were always asked to stay out our hurry back from time off. After you took a pay cut to get more home time.
Shops take to long to fix your trucks. A&B service should not take two to three days.
Advice to Senior Management
The turnover rate keeps going up, - Forced disp, hometime, cut pay. That why I left .
Pros
drive all 48 states...i loved that ...
Cons
no really...they take care of their truckes..except when i needed new drive tires because winter was coming they said u still have 1mm left before we replace them...i told them i was slipping alot in the snow
Pros
No matter what the problem, they are more than willing to help. Last year was a very bad year for me personally. I lost both parents and my wife is struggling with a health issue. They have gotten me where I needed to go and given me whatever time off I need. I also am very involved in Veterans of Foreign Wars. I am currently going through the chairs at Department(State) level and they have supported me in this endeavor. All of this and I am making more money with more benefits than any other company can or has offered.
Cons
Long hours driving and being away from family. These are normal driving complaints but in my case a little overboard. I work hard and am usually home several nights a week.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work The drivers that do not fit into our system are not going to be happy anywhere.
Pros
Unlike other carriers your job satisfaction more often than not depends on the terminal you are assigned to. As we have no dedicated dispatchers for the drivers, a small mistake is less likley to follow you until someone is satisfied you have been tought a lesson. As for me I am very satisfied with my management (terminal) team. They are there to help not to hold you back
Cons
Slow trucks (62 mph) however this is offset by decent per mile rate, If you are at a bad terminal life can be very rough. Company maintenance system leaves a lot to be desired. Understaffed breakdown leads to slow response times and getting to terminal maintenance locations is somtimes difficult and is very time consuming when you get there.
Advice to Senior Management
Get Maintenance supervisors together and go to Ottawa Il terminals and figure out how they are able to get a B service done in 2 to 3 hrs while other terminals (SLC, Wilmer, Marietta ) take at least a day or more to do the same thing. And get the slow ones up to speed
